Anna Dodds

Anna Dodds (f) Community Midwife Anna is our community midwife and she started at Priory in February 2023. Charlotte Fisher

Job Titles:

  • Physician
Charlotte qualified from the University of Newcastle in 2021. She has been working with the practice since 2019. She has a background in Physiology and a previous degree in this subject. Charlotte sees a broad range of patients in our surgery and will be joining our team providing minor surgeries at our Tynemouth branch. She also works for the PCN as the Clinical cancer lead.

Christopher Mettham

Job Titles:
  • Practice Manager
Chris joined us in August 2022. He is responsible for the overall running of the practice, specifically the management aspects e.g. HR, finance, recruitment.

Cynthia Jackson

Job Titles:
  • Senior Administrator
Cynthia was our Practice Manager for many years until retirement in 2018. She returned to help us out in 2022 and is working on projects such as complaint management/investigation and updating all of our policies and procedures.

Deborah Turnball

Job Titles:
  • Pharmacy Technician
Deborah joined us in December 2022 and works alongside the rest of the team, assisting the pharmacists. To try and give a little understanding of this role in general, they are skilled clinicians in their own right but sometimes require the support of a pharmacist for a final decision. They deal with a lot of the logistical side of the job initially but as they progress through their career become more clinically competent.

Dr Alexa Rae

Dr Rae qualified from the University of Newcastle in 2007 and completed her GP training locally in 2012. She has recently joined the practice in August 2022 after working with us as a locum GP over the last five years. Her interests include minor surgery, women's health, and child health. Dr Alexa Rae (f) works in the practice

Dr Ian Donkin

Job Titles:

Dr.Donkin has been a partner at the practice since 2001, his post-graduate qualifications are DRCOG and DFFP. He is the practice lead in respiratory medicine and child safeguarding lead. Dr Donkin is the practice supervisor for the F2 Junior Doctors. Dr Ian Donkin (m) works in the practice

Dr. Alex Kent

Job Titles:
  • Doctor
Dr Kent qualified from the University of Southampton in 2012 and returned to the North East to do GP training. She joined Priory Medical group in 2018 and joined the Partnership in 2022. She is the Medical Director at NENC ICB, North Shields PCN director, a trustee for Age UK North Tyneside and a GP trainer. Clinical interests include child health, health promotion and lifestyle medicine and holistic care for older people. She works on Monday and Friday. She is usually at North Shields or Tynemouth (Hadrian park when required). Dr. Alex Kent (f) works in the practice

Dr. Andrew Duggan

Job Titles:

Dr Duggan qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2005. After working in the Midlands and then New Zealand he returned to his native North East for GP training. He has been at Priory since 2013 and became a partner in 2015. Dr Duggan has an interest in Sports and Exercise Medicine and runs the minor surgery and joint injection services. Dr. Carly Hire

Job Titles:

Dr Hire qualified from the University of Leeds in 2014 and worked as a junior doctor in Yorkshire. She completed the last of her GP training at Priory Medical Group after choosing to return home to the Northeast. She enjoys teaching medical students at the practice and also works at Newcastle University.

Dr. Catriona Rutland

Dr Rutland qualified from the University of Leeds in 2005 and came back home to the North East to do GP training. She joined Priory Medical group in 2013 and joined the Partnership in 2021. Her interests include dermatology, contraception (fitting contraceptive implants and coils), and diabetes. Dr Rutland also works for Newcastle Hospitals as a Dermatology Speciality Doctor. Dr. Hannah Dalton

Job Titles:
  • Doctor
Dr Dalton qualified from Newcastle University in 2009. She joined Priory Medical Group in 2017, becoming a GP Partner in 2022. She is interested in all aspects of General Practice, particularly women's and child-health. She also enjoys training the doctors of the future and one of the GP Registrar trainers as well as being part of the Medical Student teaching team. Dr. Hannah Dalton (f) works in the practice

Dr. Janet McCallum

Job Titles:

Dr McCallum trained at Newcastle University and joined Priory Medical Group in 1996. She is Senior partner and the adult safeguarding lead. She is GP liaison for Coble House Nursing Home and has special interests in care of the elderly and vascular disease. Dr. Janet McCallum (f) works in the practice

Dr. Judith Wills

Dr Wills qualified from Leeds University in 1993. Having moved back to the North East in 1994 she started working at Priory Medical Group in 2001. Her interests include diabetes and women's health (including HRT and fitting coils and implants). Dr. Judith Wills (f) works in the practice

Helen Parker

Job Titles:
  • Practice Nurse
Helen qualified from Northumbria University in 2013 as a registered adult nurse. She worked at the RVI in acute medicine before working as a community nurse. Helen joined Priory Medical Group in 2022 as a treatment room nurse. She is completing the relevant training to become a practice nurse. Her main interest is wound care.

Jade Welsh

Jade Welsh (f) Primary care Mental Health nurse Jade joined Priory Medical Group in March 2023. She has a very varied background within mental health having previously worked in CAMHS, CTT, Psych Liaison, in-patient unit. She is trained in DBT. Jade sees all aspects of primary care mental health, she can offer assessment, brief interventions and advice about onward referrals. She cannot prescribe but can advise about medication and liaise with a GP if medication is felt to be necessary. However, her role is not the same as a counsellor and she does not have capacity for multiple listening visits. Appointments with Jade can be booked directly via reception or via GP internal referral. Update - Jade is temporarily working elsewhere in North Tyneside to cover a staffing gap but will hopefully be back with us soon. Tracey Davy remains with us and is covering our mental health needs. Katy Murphy

Job Titles:
  • Dietitian
Katy Murphy (f) Diabetic Dietitian Our dietitian is only available to see diabetic patients. She provides dietary advice and will liaise with GP to recommend medication for diabetes. She works closely with the diabetic resource centre and will recommend referrals for e.g. insulin and other diabetic drugs where appropriate. She does not see non-diabetic patients, nor does she see those who are considered 'at risk of diabetes' or 'non diabetic hyperglycemia' (formerly referred to as pre-diabetes). Katy Murphy (f) works in the practice The 1st 3 Wednesdays of the month

Kelly Clark

Job Titles:
  • Office Manager
Kelly worked in a temporary role as a receptionist in 2017 and returned in August 2021 as part of the Reception team. She then moved into the Pharmacy team as the administration lead and has now been promoted to Office manager. She is responsible for overseeing the running of the non clinical team and rota management, HR, QOF, Health and Safety.

Lauren Bell

Lauren joined PMG in Summer 2022. She has been a qualified RGN since 2011. She has worked across the country and has been working as a district nurse for the past 8 years. Her main interest is in wound management, especially complex post op wounds and leg ulcer management. She will soon be qualified in cervical screening (smears) and baby immunisations.

Louise Al-Janabi

  • Lead Primary Care Mental Health Nurse
Louise joined Priory in September 2020. She has over 27 years' experience working in a variety of NHS mental health services, including community treatment teams, primary care mental health team, assertive outreach and IAPT . She is trained in EMDR (a trauma focused therapy) and Cognitive analytic therapy (CAT). Louise sees all aspects of primary care mental health. She can offer assessment, brief interventions, and advice about onward referrals. Louise spends the rest of her time managing the Primary care mental health team in North Tyneside. Louise Briggs

Job Titles:
  • Pharmacy Lead Admin
Louise joined the practice in November 2021 as part of the reception team and moved over to pharmacy team in 2022. She has recently been promoted to Pharmacy Admin lead. Louise deals with the running of the pharmacy team, all administrative queries and is the first port of call for all community pharmacies. Her duties include: • Manages weekly scripts • Manages dosette scripts • Assists in pharmacy team rota planning • Assists in clinic rota planning • Assists in workflow management • Main point of contact for community pharmacies

Louise Laughland

Job Titles:

Louise has recently qualified as a pharmacist. She has done her Pre-reg/trainee year in primary care and then worked for a period of time in hospital. She joined Priory Medical group in February 2023.

Marie Naisbitt

  • Healthcare Assistant
Marie has worked at Priory for many years as a medical receptionist and used to work as a phlebotomist. In the Autumn of 2022, she began training as a healthcare assistant. She will soon join our established nursing team to assist with tasks such as blood taking, checking BPs and BMI.

Mrs. Lesley Shaw

Job Titles:

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Mrs. Lisa Watson

Lisa completed registered Adult Nursing in 2009. She initially worked as a surgical nurse then became a palliative care nurse. She has previous experience in Primary care in Northumberland working as a practice nurse and then she joined Priory Medical Group in 2018 Specialities include Respiratory medicine (asthma/COPD), Diabetes, Baby and general immunisations, cervical cytology. Mrs. Lisa Watson (f) works in the practice

Natalie Bourke

Job Titles:
  • Operations Manager
Natalie joined us at Priory in September 2022. She works very closely with both clinical and non clinical teams, and with the practice manager to ensure smooth running of the practice. She deals with areas such as HR, QOF, Health and Safety among others.

Nehal Hassan

Job Titles:
  • Pharmacist
Nehal Hassan (f) Trainee Pharmacist Nehal joined the pharmacy team in September 2022. Trainees have graduated with a pharmacy degree and are now halfway through their year of on-site training. They are at a similar level to senior technicians in terms of clinics and will have their decisions checked by a pharmacist.

Rebecca Farman

Regan English

Job Titles:
  • Pharmacist
Regan graduated with a Masters in Pharmacy from Durham University and went on to complete her training at Northumbria hospitals/North West PCN. She has previous experience in primary and secondary care and joined Priory Medical Group in February 2022. Regan leads our medicines management team to ensure safe and appropriate prescribing for our patients. Her clinical areas of interest are COPD, women's health, hypertension and epilepsy. She also has a wider interest in healthcare leadership.

Sophie Urwin

Sophie Urwin (f) Paramedic primary care practitioner Sophie is a registered paramedic and joined PMG in 2021, having previously worked for the North East Ambulance Service. She qualified via an internship and graduated from the University of Cumbria. Sophie's background includes emergency/acute care, home visiting and she is also a non-medical prescriber. Sophie is currently in the process of completing her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice with Teesside University. Sophie Urwin (f) works in the practice Monday - Thursday.

Victoria Brown

Job Titles:
  • Healthcare Assistant
Victoria joined the practice in June 2006 as a medical receptionist and subsequently became qualified as a healthcare assistant. She takes bloods, blood pressures, measures height and weight, pre diabetic screening, gives flu vaccinations and carries out cardiovascular disease health checks.
