Dr Hanif Kanji - CEO, Founder

Hanif qualified as a doctor and has eleven years experience in banking with leading financial institutions including Prudential-Bache in London and New York, and Société Générale (SocGen) (Paris: GLE) in Paris and Hong Kong. Hanif returned to healthcare in 2000 in a turnaround role as COO for Hong Kong for HK-listed ehealthcareasia.com (formerly HKEx: 835), where he led the development of an innovative combined medical claims processing and clinic management software, its subsequent implementation into Hong Kong's largest physician group of over 700 doctors, and turned the company from loss to profit in nine months. In 2004, Hanif founded Sinophi as an Asian healthcare consultancy. Clients included general and specialty hospitals, institutions (including the World Bank, IFC and Asian Development Bank) and Governments (such as Brunei and Abu Dhabi) for hospital projects and investments in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Brunei, Philippines and the Middle East. In addition to his expertise in hospital design, commissioning and management, operational effectiveness, healthcare finance and the implementation of hospital and medical governance, Hanif continues to developed expertise in the fast evolving area of health tech and digital health. Hanif contributes actively to the Hong Kong community and is Chairman of Healthcare Committee at the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and is vice chairman of the Insurance and Healthcare Committee at AmCham. He graduated in medicine from Cambridge University and received his MBA from The Wharton School, USA

Dr Xu Yuan

Yuan Kun graduated in medicine from China's prestigious Peking Union Medical College and specialized in dermatology after which he obtained his Masters in Public Health from Kyushu University. In 2000, he joined Shanghai Tian Wei Investment & Management Company where he was in charge of biotech and pharmaceutical projects the firm was undertaking. Two years later he joined Nanjing University (NanDa) Science and Technology Park Co. where he worked under Gong Yong Qiang. His area of focus with NanDa was hospitals and healthcare investments. Prior to joining Sinophi in 2010, Yuan Kun was a freelance healthcare consultant in Beijing and Jiangsu province where he undertook projects involving M&A, restructuring, and hospital operational efficiency.

Gong Yong Qiang - COO, Founder

Yong has held executive positions in both Chinese and multinational corporations and has considerable experience in negotiating joint venture agreements between Chinese and foreign parties, and has been involved in several acquisitions and divestitures in China. From 2006 to 2007, he was a board member and vice-president of Nanjing University (NanDa) Science and Technology Park Co., commercializing Nanjing University's intellectual property, focusing particularly on healthcare. He concurrently served as executive vice-president of Beijing-Toronto International Hospital, a joint venture hospital development which NanDa acquired. From 1997 to 2002, Yong was Vice President of American BancSys Corporation - a California company developing and distributing banking system products and solutions to China, and prior to this was Assistant President and Chief of the International Division of China Xing Hua Group - a diversified SOE conducting business in healthcare, pharmaceutical, real estate, manufacture, and import and export business. Yong's early career was as a reporter, then an editor, at the Xinhua News Agency, China's national news agency and voice of Chinese central authorities. He is currently a director in Beijing Ren Yi Insurance Agency. He was educated at Yanjing Overseas Chinese University in Beijing where he received bachelors degrees in English and International Trade Law.
