SIMLab, meanwhile, sought to use our experience to help shed light on the many other elements of a technology project that you have to get right to make it successful: issues like evidence-based design, learning from your work, responsible data, sustainability, and effective messaging. We have worked with organizations all over the world, building and configuring technology platforms for social change projects, supporting strategy development, and conducting evaluations. We have developed open frameworks and tools on context analysis and monitoring and evaluation for tech in social change, and advocated for improved practice in the ‘ICT4D' and civic tech spaces. We are longtime members of the Communicating with Disaster-Affected Communities (CDAC) Network and the Humanitarian Innovation Fund Grants Committee. In the US, our work since 2014 has included services triage for older people in the DC area; access to legal services in the Bay Area; and advocating for inclusive technology..
