THE COMPASSION NETWORK

The Compassion Network cultivates Buddhist initiatives in the West, including the translation of Buddhist canonical texts from Chinese to English, intrafaith and interfaith work, and sharing the teachings of the Buddha to benefit all beings... Efforts are underway to translate the entire Buddhist Canon, some with electronic translation and some are plodding through one text at a time. Regardless, the process of translating, reviewing, and editing by more than one bilingual individual helps to enhance the quality of the translation. The improved translations will also improve any program that attempts to automate translations, to the extent possible... Thus far, a miniscule portion of the Taisho Mahayana Chinese Canon has been translated into English.
