Ben Burggraaf - Chairman

Ben received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Twente University in 2003 and became a Charter Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in 2008. Starting his career in 2002 at the Corus/Tata Steel R&D facility in the Netherlands, he was appointed as the Energy Optimisation Manager at the Port Talbot Steelworks in 2007. In 2014, he joined Welsh Water, becoming responsible for the day-to-day energy costs of the 4,000+ sites across Wales & Herefordshire. In October 2018, he was appointed as the Head of Energy Optimisation, leading on all aspects of energy management for Welsh Water. In his current role, Ben leads an organisation which has been created to support Welsh industry decarbonisation and the creation of new jobs in the green industries of the future and aims to help a wide range of energy-intensive industries to achieve net zero.

Caroline Holman

Caroline is a Chartered Environmentalist with the Institute of Environmental Managers & Assessors (IEMA), Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET), and Board member of the Energy Managers Association (EMA). Caroline has over 30 years' experience, predominantly in the automotive sector. This experience includes engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sustainability & CSR, project management, energy strategy & policy, carbon, and utilities risk management. As Head of Energy, Caroline works closely with various sector, internal and external stakeholders, developing and leading SSW's Energy and Carbon Strategy as part of the critical, and exciting journey to Net Zero.

Charlie Cox

Gillian Brown

Gillian is an accomplished energy manager with over 13 years of experience in public sector energy management. Prior to starting her current role at the Office of Government Property she was the Energy Manager at University of Glasgow where she was responsible and accountable for the optimisation of energy sources and active management of the energy consumption within the context of the University's Energy Strategy. Her role covered all areas of energy management; from legislative compliance to project works and the management of building energy consumption across a technical and varied portfolio. Within previous roles Gillian has been the lead on a number of large scale energy projects and renewable designs and installations in some complex and highly critical buildings. Gillian is an established member of the academic community. Her current area of research is into the development of positive energy building groups of mixed age construction.

Jonathan Waldie - CSR

Jonathan received his degree in marketing & business from the CUAM university in Venezuela. He has worked in the holiday park leisure industry for over 20 years in various roles from leisure centre manager to holiday park general manager and more recently in a central role overseeing aspects of facilities and sustainability for all the Haven estate. Directly managing capital and planned preventative maintenance for all mechanical and electrical plant, swimming pool plant operations, water infrastructure and energy management, including team engagement & behavioural change.

Richard is a Chartered Engineer, and holds memberships with the Institute of Engineers of Ireland, the Energy Managers Association, and the Energy Institute. He holds an Honours Degree in Building Services Engineering from the University of Ulster, an Executive Masters in Business Administration from Dublin City University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Energy from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. Richard is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional, Certified Water Steward, and an ISO 50001 Energy Management System Lead Auditor. He has specific interest in Energy Management Strategy, Energy Systems Certification, and the Decarbonisation of Energy Systems within the Built Environment. In his current role, Richard is responsible for energy performance, and the strategic development of energy systems, and infrastructure across all campuses.
