For nearly 14 years, he was a medical illustrator at the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in Chicago, a weekly peer-reviewed publication of clinical and basic medical research. He had the privilege of being the first full-time medical illustrator in JAMA's 117 year history, and was instrumental in establishing and building up Department of Editorial Graphics and the current services it provides. His primary work has encompassed figures and multimedia features to accompany both scientific review articles and patient education information in print and online for an audience of physicians, researchers, scientists, allied health professionals, and medical students. He has tackled a variety of medical subject matter from basic anatomy to advanced pathology and disease pathways, to patient situation and editorial illustration. And, in doing so, Cassio has had the pleasure of collaborating with a diverse group of content experts, editors, writers, and other illustrators.....
