TMCSEA

Tazewell-Mason Counties Special Education Association is a legally constituted Special Education Joint Agreement, formed under the Illinois School Code. TMCSEA is a cooperative agreement among area Superintendents and schools to provide comprehensive special education services. The Association was formed by the leadership of the two county Regional Superintendents, local school Superintendents and the Board of Education of thirty-two school districts during the school year of 1966-67. The Association became operational on July 1, 1968. The 68-69 school year opened with a staff of forty-six special education personnel. Since the 1980's, TMCSEA has been decentralized into seven mini-coops, where the individual districts hire a majority of the special education teaching and support staff.
