A lifelong enthusiast of the built environment and a passionate marketer, the role of Marketing Director at an architectural practice seems predestined for Charlotte! Having graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Town and Country Planning, Charlotte headed for Hong Kong where she began a career in marketing. Eventually, her career brought Charlotte back to London and culminated in her co-ordinating major advertising campaigns for the launch of the Central London Congestion Charge.
This depth of experience and an appreciation for buildings, cities and sustainability make Charlotte a real asset to the team. Her keen sense of what clients are looking for has enabled Charlotte to fine-tune the practice's offering over the years. She is an adept communicator and a systematic thinker. Many of 50 Degrees' processes, which ensure client projects run smoothly, are in place thanks to Charlotte's hard work.
Sharing knowledge and expertise with clients is high on her list of priorities. Charlotte aims to keep showcasing the team's passion for architecture, their skills, and their creativity. Our vision is to help as many people as possible create homes they love; Charlotte's work is instrumental in helping us achieve this.
Gavin has been with 50 Degrees North since September 2018. Having worked for practices in Richmond and Winchester, he brings a wealth of experience, ranging from high-profile sports centres to high-end residential architecture.
Gavin's work in Winchester heightened his sensitivity to the status of historic buildings and conservation areas. His residential experience means Gavin is ideally placed to guide our clients through their projects. Indeed, hands-on expertise is key to the role of an architect. Gavin recently completed his own personal building project, which gives him plenty of empathy for clients facing a multitude of decisions. Not to mention the emotions that go with a big build!
On the technical side of things, Gavin has a fantastic eye for space planning and proportions. He designs so that space, material and detail combine to give places the right atmosphere while functioning as they should. His confidence and communication skills are critical assets to the team and clients welcome his expertise being on hand when needed.
Leigh founded 50 Degrees North fourteen years ago with one bold aim: to create homes that clients love to live in. Design, retrofit and repurpose are in Leigh's blood; from the age of sixteen he helped out at the architectural practice where his mother worked.
After several years working in the hospitality sector, Tamsyn realised her talent and passion for figures and rapidly gained further qualifications in bookkeeping and accounts. Never one to sit still for long, Tamsyn is now working towards her AAT Diploma in Accounting.
Tanya brings the best of large-scale architectural practice to the residential market. With 19 years' post-qualification experience, Tanya is not only a highly skilled professional she has an analytical mind and a calming influence.
Her keen interest in making the most of a building is especially useful on work with heritage properties. Tanya brings a thoughtful and sensitive approach to these spaces; she has qualifications in conservation and sustainability and relishes the chance to upgrade historic buildings with a contemporary and sustainable emphasis.
Most of Tanya's day-to-day responsibilities means she is busy working hard behind the scenes. Though not directly client-facing, Tanya is critical to the smooth running of our process and the management of our architectural team. It's her watchful eye which ensures we've understood the brief and that clients have the support they need when they need it.
Tanya's enthusiasm for architecture is unquestionable. Yet it's her considered, methodical view that's the perfect foil for Leigh's can-do approach, making her a crucial contributor to our client's success.
Yoana has taken the lead on a roster of projects since she joined the 50 Degrees team two years ago. Her fresh, enthusiastic eye combined with years of design experience make her a real asset to the practice. Eye-catching interior elements, creative use of materials and bold patterns are hallmarks of Yoana's design. Clients value her creative flair and her knack for designing spaces which are both practical and a joy to be in.
Much of our work involves collaborating with other contractors and Yoana's problem-solving ability ensures projects run smoothly. She is a brilliant communicator and has excellent 2D and 3D drawing skills; these qualities mean that Yoana is equally at home liaising with clients and communicating technical information to contractors. The result is a space which meets the client's brief and inspires them too!
As a project architect, Yoana is a central point of contact for clients throughout the process. Her creative curiosity and approachable demeanour make Yoana a pleasure to work with.
