The Ambleside Tourist Information Centre (TIC) lists 19 restaurants, 13 cafes, 12 take aways, 2 chip shops and 4 pubs, not to mention hotels, that can all provide you with meals in Ambleside within easy walking distance of all our cottages. Our favourites include... The Lake District National Park is a wonderful area for walking. Ambleside is the ideal centre. Ordnance Survey maps and walking guide books such as those by Wainwright will help you find your way around. The Lake District National Park Authority organises many guided walks between mid March and the end of December. See their free booklet Events & Park Life available from TICs or phone their Events Enquiries on 015394 46601. Their walks are graded between easy and hard.
