Brian Putt - Chairman

Brian is a self-employed town planner with 37 years of professional work in local, district, regional and central government planning. Brian is a self-employed town planner with 37 years of professional work in local, district, regional and central government planning. He has a long involvement with North Shore community organisations from his time as a councillor on the former Northcote Borough Council (from 1980). He was part of the establishment of Awataha Marae and Onepoto Awhina. Brian was an elected councillor on the inaugural North Shore City Council from 1989 -1992. He chaired the Northcote Soccer Club for 6 years and was a member and Chair of the Northcote College Board of Trustees for 7 years. Brian's interests remain in the strategic purpose and function of community development. He sees his professional skills as a valuable tool to assist in helping ANCAD confront and liaise with central and local government organisations. Brian is married with 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren. He has lived in Northcote for 37 years.

Cindy Bradley

Cindy Bradley's career has been in the tertiary sector with a focus on adult education. Cindy's career has been in the tertiary sector with a focus on adult education and life-long learning. As Director of Executive Education at the University of Auckland Business School she was responsible for the design, development and delivery of a portfolio of learning solutions for individuals, teams and organisations. In this role she worked with CEOs, HR and Learning and Development professionals to create learning and development solutions for their senior managers, aligned with their individual needs and the organisation's strategic direction. She is passionate about developing individuals to be more impactful in their roles and thereby growing New Zealand's capability and productivity. Cindy previously served as Director of Development at Northwestern University Law School where she directed the entire development programme, including major gifts (US$50,000+) bequests, planned gifts and annual gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations.

Clark Tuagalu

Clark Tuagalu is an accomplished community engagement specialist and advisor with nearly 28 years of experience in teaching, health, and education research. His expertise fosters connections and drives positive change within diverse communities, especially Pacific ones, focusing on health and well-being. He notably increased participation in various projects, like Census 2023. Clark has a Master's in Sport and Leisure Studies and a Bachelor's in Parks and Recreation Management. His roles have ranged from Community Engagement Advisor to Senior Lecturer, demonstrating a deep commitment to community development.

Deb Humphries

Deb has worked across the North Shore community sector for the last 20+ years. Deb has worked across the North Shore community sector for the last 20+ years. Her past employment history has seen her involved in the fields of education, social services, health and disability and since 2007 - the family violence intervention and prevention sector. With teaching, child psychology and child protection qualifications, initially, Deb worked within The Salvation Army Community Ministries situated in Glenfield. She then worked with Community Child and Family Services at North Shore Hospital, employed by the WDHB. In 2007 Deb recruited into the role of the North Shore Advocate for children and young people who had witnessed family violence; a role established by the former North Shore Women's Refuge/Safer Families Foundation. With a background in teaching, Deb is passionate about community-led development, empowering strength-based solutions and promoting behavioural change that supports improved wellbeing and thriving communities. She believes our whole community benefits when we work towards supporting safer whanau, for our children to be nurtured and cherished within.

Eva Chen

Eva, originally from Taiwan, moved to Aotearoa New Zealand at 17 to pursue her studies. She has dedicated over a decade to community work. Eva, originally from Taiwan, moved to Aotearoa New Zealand at 17 to pursue her studies. As a 1.5 generation migrant, she has dedicated over a decade to community work. Eva sits on advisory boards at various levels, from community to central government. Her journey began humbly, focusing on increasing postnatal depression awareness among the Mandarin-speaking Chinese community. Over time, her work expanded to include family violence prevention, victim support for school bullying and racism, and initiatives such as the Hawaiki Project. This project aims to bring Māori youth to Taiwanese indigenous tribes for cultural exchange, leadership development, and building sense of belonging. Eva's community work serves as a grounding force, connecting her with migrants and refugees from diverse backgrounds beyond ethnicities.

Fiona Brennan

Fiona is a BA Hons Theology and Religious Studies graduate, she holds a Graduate Diploma in Non-Profit Management and is studying on the Master of Public Policy Programme at the University of Auckland.

Glen Hill

I trained in South Africa as a Chartered Accountant with a professional firm and them moved into mining, industry and commerce. On immigrating to New Zealand 24 years ago, I got involved in contracting in many organisations and eventually worked for companies in software development. I also got involved voluntarily in a charity as their Treasurer (which is where I met Geoff Andrews). My last full time role was with a not-for-profit operating in the banking and insurance sectors. When Geoff started with ANCAD, he mentioned the development of ACA. I thought it was a great idea as not-for-profits was one area hardly covered in the university courses. I offered to assist him in any way I could and have enjoyed my involvement in lecturing, mentoring and more recently organising teams.

Jan Rutledge QSM

During this time, Jan has overseen the considerable expansion of its services and housing provision. Kim comes from a background in Early Childhood Education where she has spent many years managing and teaching within the Kindergarten Sector. Recently Kim has been working in the childcare industry where she has been responsible for the development of curriculum through targeted Professional Development and the operations of 8 Early Child-Care Centres. Kim has a passion for empowering and coaching the community to meet strategic outcomes. She has spent many years living and leading community initiatives within high-density Housing New Zealand homes. One of her key successes has been coaching local community leaders to develop programmes and the establishment of a community centre, where these programmes can be run from. Kim continues to have passion for advocating for disadvantaged community groups and for empowering communities to make positive change.

Lisa has held positions with Youthline, Foundation for Youth Development and North Shore Budget Services. Trained with a MSc in Psychology, Lisa has also gained skills in teaching both youth and adults, and has been involved with counselling and supervision work. Lisa moved into management with strategic and financial planning and was involved with training and development of workforces.

Maria Lafaele

Born of Samoan decent, Maria is a graduate from the University of Auckland and currently working for the Waitemata DHB. Born of Samoan decent, Maria is a graduate from the University of Auckland. She is currently working as a Project Manager for the Planning Funding and Outcomes team at Auckland DHB and Waitemata DHB. Prior to that, Maria worked as a Pacific Careers Consultant for the University of Auckland Career Centre and also for the WDHB Clinical Research & Resources Centre as a Pacific Researcher Assistant. She is serving the communities through her work as an Advisor Board member of the North Shore Pasifika Forum, a trustee board member to the North Shore Women's Centre and also Healthlink North. Maria has a strong interest in communities and in particular, a passion for Pasifika communities looking at the transition experienced by many families arriving and living in New Zealand. She would like to see the Pasifika communities on the North Shore strengthened and empowered to achieve their aspirations.

Simon Ritchie

Simon joined ANCAD with a background as a school teacher and Principal, having dedicated 15 years in the classroom helping students from primary through secondary levels. Simon joined ANCAD with a background as a school teacher and school principal, having dedicated 15 years in the classroom helping students from primary through to secondary school level to flourish and succeed. Simon was employed by the government agency Statistics New Zealand to train managers and workers for the nationwide Census. With several years as Auckland Regional Manager for a Levin-based marketing company, followed by time in the real estate industry helping families to move on with the next chapter in their housing lives, Simon turned his hand toward giving community groups a helping hand and completed a one year period of time overseas, in a voluntary capacity, working with various charitable groups to advance the needs of the poor in the area. Simon enjoys sports, reading and catching up with the news, latest trends and developments and enjoying time with his wife Sarah and cat Sir Monty, living locally on the North Shore.
