Andy Cheseldine joined the board in 2017. He's been named as one of the top 25 most influential investment consultants in the past five years - a testament to his reputation. Andy has over 35 years of experience in consulting on defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension schemes.
Before joining the Trustee Board in September 2019, Anna was a trustee of the Accenture Retirement Savings Plan (UK). She previously worked as a digital strategy consultant with Oliver Wyman specialising in the design, build and launch of digital banks and retail investment apps in East Asia. She currently works as a Senior Product Manager for a leading payments app.
Anna brings this technological expertise to the Board, along with her passion for great member communications and re-engaging scheme members. In 2019, she was recognised as Trustee of the Year at the Professional Pensions Rising Star Awards.

David joined the Smart Pension Master Trust Board in October 2018. He is a Fully Accredited Professional Pension Trustee with a range of Board appointments. David has over 35 years' experience worldwide in the pension and investment industry, working as an operator and consultant. He has worked for two of the Big Four consulting firms and was the UK and ROI Pensions and Payroll Manager for Tesco.
David is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He is passionate about ESG and addressing the risks and opportunities arising from Climate Change. He holds the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.

Eve is a well-known and respected figure in the retirement savings sector. She spent two decades focused on pensions at employee benefits consultancy Mercer, which included setting up and running the firm's UK DC consulting business. More recently she worked at the government DC scheme NEST, where she led on business delivery and customer engagement. Eve leads the UK Proposition Team as it builds new features for the Smart Pension Master Trust as well as contributing to the development of Keystone, Smart's global Platform-as-a-Service offering.

Pensions are complex. Regulation is vital. Ian oversees all our governance and regulatory obligations for the Smart Pension Master Trust, making sure we abide by the rules. As the former lead relationship manager for master trusts at The Pensions Regulator (TPR), Ian prepared the industry for the master trust authorisation regime. He was also responsible for ensuring advisers and master trust providers delivered compliant auto enrolment solutions He has been guardian of industry standards in his role at TPR. Ian underpins our evolution as a leading provider in auto enrolment and the wider defined contribution pensions market.

Jamie is passionate about transforming pensions to make sure that they bring greater value and help improve later life for all people. He was previously Chief Operating Officer at B&CE, where he was instrumental in the design and delivery of The People's Pension, before joining Smart in 2018. With a background in accountancy and more than 27 years' experience in financial services, Jamie is an experienced and skilful pair of hands to efficiently lead Smart's pension and platform businesses to further significant growth.
Kim Gubler joined the Smart Pension Master Trust Board in May 2024. Kim has over 30 years' experience in the pensions industry, including as a founding director of the Pensions Administration Standards Association (PASA) and has been its Chair since 2019. She is a Fellow of both the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) and the Pensions Advisory Service and was an independent Trustee Director of the Crystal Master Trust. Kim sits on the Pension Dashboards Programme Advisory Group and DWP's Default Consolidator Delivery Group and is the PMI's Principal Examiner for Professionalism and Governance.
Nikesh Patel joined the board in 2021 and chairs our investment sub-committee. He has nearly two decades of experience in consulting trustees and employers on defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension schemes on all investment matters, including as an award-winning Chief Investment Officer for his role in managing the assets for a number of pension funds in the UK. He has a keen interest in responsible investment, alongside a deep expertise in both public and private markets. He is an actuary by training and is also a trustee director of the Church of England Pensions Board.

Paul is responsible for the overall strategic design and management of the Smart Pension Master Trust investment proposition. He is a member of the Trustee Investment Sub-committee, and also chairs the Scheme Strategist. Before joining Smart Pension in 2019, Paul was a Managing Director at BlackRock (and subsequently Aegon), leading their UK defined contribution workplace pension business. He has also held senior positions at Fidelity, AXA and PwC.

Sam's the driving force behind our technology. Since Smart was founded, Sam has overseen the evolution of our platform and helped grow the engineering team to what it is today. With more than 20 years' experience, he's the best person to make sure we're using the right technology as we continue to innovate within the financial services industry.

Stuart is a well-known figure in the UK pensions industry, having previously worked for Scottish Widows where he led growth in its contract based and master trust schemes. Stuart joins Smart Pension to guide it's workplace offering development from sustainability to experience to unrivalled value for money. Before this, he was responsible for driving growth in DC pensions at Hymans Robertson, as well as periods at Willis Towers Watson, Capita Employee Benefits and Standard Life.
