MARTIN KOUNITZ

My private practice is located in Amherst, MA. I trained at the Metropolitan Center for Mental Health for five years, where I treated people suffering from anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunction, trauma such as physical and sexual abuse, and insomnia. I interned at Inter-Care, a substance abuse clinic, and Covenant House, a homeless shelter for adolescents. For over twenty years I worked in corporate finance as a bond analyst covering the healthcare and other industries, and did mergers and acquisitions. Professional affiliations include the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine and the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work... A relational psychotherapist, I did post-graduate training at the William Alanson White Institute. Additionally, I studied at the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, another post-graduate facility. At Oxford University and the University of Pennsylvania, I studied sleep disorders.
