Anna Shipley

Anna leads our Corporate Affairs function and strategic approach, shaping and sharing the stories that matter most to our business and team, as well as with Kiwis across the country. Anna joined The Warehouse Group in 2021 as the Chapter Area Lead for Corporate Affairs and was appointed to the Group Leadership Team as the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer in 2022. In her role, Anna sponsors the Corporate Affairs function and co-sponsors the Better Living tribe, Business Sales and Partnerships Chapter, and the Customer Care Chapter. Prior to joining The Warehouse Group in 2021, Anna was General Manager Corporate Affairs at BNZ, as well as Director of Communications for Nokia China and APAC based in Beijing, and Head of Communications for Nokia & UK based in London.

Antony (Tony) Balfour

Caroline Rainsford

Caroline is currently the Country Director for Google NZ, where she is responsible for driving the overall revenue and business strategy for New Zealand, and in partnering with Government, policy teams and New Zealand business leaders she is focused on helping New Zealand businesses grow and transform in the digital age. Prior to joining Google in 2017, Caroline was the Marketing and Product Director for the Latitude NZ (previously GE Capital) business as well as the Brand Director for the Australian and New Zealand region. Her earlier career included roles with Philips Royal Electronics in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

Celia Mearns

Celia joined the Leadership Squad in October 2023 as Acting Group CFO. Celia joined The Warehouse Group in March 2021 as Finance Director, playing a key role in supporting business strategy, looking after Transactional Services and Financial Reporting across the brands, and delivering critical business projects with both a retail and commercial lens. Along with her knowledge of the Group and how we operate, she brings with her extensive experience in the retail, viticultural and FMCG industries and has previously held a number of CFO roles prior to her time at The Warehouse Group, including CFO of Villa Maria, Smiths City and Mitre 10. Her strategic and operational expertise will be an asset as she joins the Leadership Squad, especially through peak.

Edwin Gear - CIO

Edwin Gear joins the Group Executive Team of The Warehouse Group as Chief Information Officer. Edwin brings a wealth of retail IS experience, most recently being the CIO of Metcash Australia, and has held prior roles in New Zealand with Mitre10 and Foodstuffs. Alongside this, he has extensive operational and broader business experience and has a strong track record of delivering change and building and leading teams. Edwin's appointment will bring certainty, focus and leadership for the IS team.

Ian Carter - COO

Ian joined The Warehouse Group in 2019. Beginning in the role of Executive General Manager of Operations, Ian was appointed Chief Store Operations Officer in 2021. Ian is responsible for developing and implementing store operation strategies that maximise store sales and deliver exceptional in-store experiences for our customers. Ian has an extensive background in leading large retail operations and empowering customer service and property teams. He moved to New Zealand in 2019 from the United Kingdom, where he held leadership roles with McKesson, Halfords and B&Q. Prior to joining The Warehouse Group, Ian was based in the UK at McKesson, a large pharmaceutical health care provider, as Director of Operations. At McKesson, Ian was responsible for reviewing and redefining the Retail Support Operations functions to help deliver transformative change within the group. Prior to McKesson, Ian spent six years at Halfords leading large retail operations and empowering customer service and property teams. As Group Retail & Property Director, Ian was responsible for the profitable operation of 455 stores, managing key teams and leading the development and implementation of the five-year strategic plan.

Joan Withers

Joan has been a professional director for more than 20 years and spent over 25 years working in the media industry, previously holding CEO positions at The Radio Network and Fairfax Media. In addition to her Chair role with The Warehouse Group, Joan is also a director of ANZ Bank NZ Limited, Origin Energy Limited and Sky Network Television Limited. Joan has previously held Chair positions at Television New Zealand Limited and Auckland International Airport. Joan is a Trustee of the Sweet Louise Foundation and is Chair of a steering committee working to increase the percentage of South Auckland Maori and Pacific Island students taking up roles in the health sector.

Jonathan Waecker

Jonathan has been with The Warehouse Group since 2017. Beginning in the role of Chief Marketing Officer, Jonathan became the Chief Customer and Sales officer in 2021 following his appointment as Chief Customer Officer in February 2020. Jonathan is responsible for maximising customer experiences and sales within The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery and Noel Leeming brands. In addition, Jonathan is responsible for attracting, engaging and retaining customers through marketing, communications, customer experience and eCommerce activities, leading brand strategy and driving customer engagement across the Group's portfolio of brands. Prior to joining The Warehouse Group, Jonathan was based in San Francisco as Vice President of Marketing Communications at Yahoo, the fourth largest online property in the world at the time, reaching over one billion users every month. In that role, Jonathan led the fully-integrated team responsible for delivering all marketing communications during a critical turnaround period for the company, winning numerous industry awards, while driving revenue and results for the business and brand. Prior to Yahoo, Jonathan spent time in global marketing, brand strategy and business development roles at Zynga and The Walt Disney Company, two of the world's most engaging and digitally innovative consumer brands. He has been named one of Brand Innovators 40 Under 40, received an MBA in Corporate Strategy from HEC Paris, a second MBA in Global Finance from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and graduated from San Diego State University.

Mark Anderton

Mark joined the Leadership Squad in October 2023 as Chief Sustainable & Sourcing Officer. Mark started out at The Warehouse Hastings when he was just 19 years old, as a casual before joining the fast-track management programme at our Napier store. Mark rose to Assistant Manager in Napier and, after finishing his accounting degree, he moved to SSO where he worked on operational efficiency projects, as a buyer, and later as General Manager of Home. Mark left the Group for a while before coming back to lead our hardgoods sourcing team and since November 2019 has lead our global sourcing team as Executive General Manager. The progress Mark and his team have made with suppliers, ethical sourcing and growing our range of sustainable products has been significant. Mark is based in our Chinese sourcing office in Shanghai, and will visit New Zealand often

Nick Grayston

Nick was appointed Chief Executive of The Warehouse Group in January, 2016. He moved to New Zealand from Chicago where he had held leadership roles with Sears Holdings, including President of footwear, home, fine jewellery and apparel. At Sears, Nick was responsible for leading change from traditional retail into omnichannel and integrated retail, building profitable businesses, driving operational turnarounds, changing business models and leading high-performance teams. Prior to Sears, Nick held senior executive positions with Foot Locker Inc. companies including President and Chief Executive of Foot Locker, Footaction and Kid's Foot Locker in New York and other leadership roles in Canada and Europe. He has also held planning, allocation and merchandising roles at a number of leading retailers in the United Kingdom including Laura Ashley, Woolworths, Debenhams and Marks and Spencer.

Richard Parker - CHRO

Richard joined The Warehouse Group in March 2019 as General Manager, People Experience, Remuneration & ER. In August 2020, he was promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer. Richard is responsible for attracting and retaining world-class retail talent by making TWG the best place to work in NZ. Previously, Richard held a number of senior human resources and corporate legal roles at a number of New Zealand's leading organisations. Richard began his career as a litigation lawyer at Chapman Tripp before moving to Fletcher Challenge as corporate legal counsel where he was involved in significant mergers and acquisition and corporate restructuring activity for the Forestry division. Subsequent to Fletcher Challenge he held senior HR roles at Telecom (now Spark) as General Manager, HR Service Delivery & Assistant General Counsel ER and then TVNZ as General Manager, People and Talent. Richard holds an LLB (Hons) and MPhil (Hons) from the University of Auckland.

Sarah Kearney

Originally from the UK, Sarah started at The Warehouse Group in August 2017 as General Manager for eCommerce and became the Chief Digital Officer following her appointment as a Tribe Lead for Customer Engagement in February 2020. Sarah's customer experience obsession began when she was sixteen years old during her first job in retail. Sarah believe d then and still does today, that we all deserve seamless experiences that not only meet but exceed our individual needs and desires. Sarah loves her role because she gets to work with amazing teams who continuously challenge how we can add value through delivering exceptional digital experiences for our customers. Prior to joining The Warehouse Group, Sarah was based in Singapore as Senior Vice President of Growth and Optimisation for Lazada Group, the leading eCommerce platform and flagship platform of the Alibaba Group in Southeast Asia. In her role, Sarah had the privilege of le ading an integrated team across seven markets, where she was responsible for driving onsite optimisation and brand campaigns to deliver revenue, conversion and basket growth. Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge in strategic ecommerce and customer engagement into her Chief Digital Officer role, as well as sharing her passion for customer experience through innovation, transformation and data with The Warehouse Group team, to help play our part in helping Kiwis live better every day.

Tania Benyon

Tania began her retailing career as a product manager for Noel Leeming Group (NLG) in 1999, becoming merchandise manager for NLG before joining The Warehouse Group when she moved to Warehouse Stationery in 2007 as General Manager Merchandise. In her role as Chief Product Officer Tania is responsible for sourcing and building the best assortment of products for customers across brands including The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery and Noel Leeming. Previously Tania held a range of senior executive positions within the Group, including Executive General Manager Merchandise and Marketing at The Warehouse, and a director of the group's chocolate subsidiary, Waikato Valley Chocolate. In 2014, she was appointed CEO Group Sourcing Support in addition to her role as Executive General Manager Trading for The Warehouse. In that role, Tania oversaw the day-to-day trading of The Warehouse as well as product sourcing and supply across the Group, leveraging its scope and scale in the New Zealand market to create and source innovative products that Kiwis need at everyday low prices.
