Dr Dylan Lu is a consultant psychiatrist and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He currently provides outpatient care to adults in his private consulting rooms, as well as inpatient care at Belmont Private Hospital.
Dr Lu has extensive experience working in both public and private mental health services. After completing his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Griffith University, he completed residency training in surgery, emergency and general medicine before specialising in psychiatry. He has worked in General Adult, Child and Adolescent, Old Age, Consultation Liaison, Perinatal Psychiatry, trauma and Psychotherapies.
Dr Lu has held lecturer academic titles with Griffith University, and has published and presented research at psychiatric conferences. He is an accredited training supervisor for the RANZCP Fellowship Program, and maintains an active interest in teaching registrars and medical students.
Dr Lu offers comprehensive assessment and treatment for a wide range of mental health disorders. He focuses on a collaborative, holistic and evidence-based approach to patient care, tailored to the individual.

Dr Erich Ting is a consultant psychiatrist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He is also a Faculty Fellow of Adult Psychiatry, member of the Section of Neurostimulation and Perinatal Psychiatry, and an international member of both the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK (RCPsych). He provides outpatient care in his private consulting suites and inpatient care at Belmont Private Hospital.
Dr Ting has extensive experience in both public and private mental health services. He also completed a Certificate of Advanced Training in Adult Psychiatry, which is a subspecialty training of psychiatric disorders in the adult population. Dr Ting has also undertaken additional training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and is an accredited TMS practitioner at Belmont Private Hospital. He can provide outpatient TMS services for depression.
Dr Ting completed Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours at Monash University. He then obtained his medical degree at the University of Queensland, before specialising in psychiatry. Dr Ting is also a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland School of Medicine and has published his research internationally. He also participates in education of medical students and psychiatry trainees.
In addition to English, Dr Ting speaks fluent Mandarin, Taiwanese, Foochow and Malay. Dr Ting's priority is to tailor his approach according to each individual and to optimise patients' quality of living so they can work towards their life goals.

Dr James Barton is a consultant psychiatrist and fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He provides general adult psychiatric outpatient care in his consulting suites. He is also a psychogeriatrician having completed advanced training in old age psychiatry and has a special interest in older persons with neurocognitive and mood disorders. Most recently he has worked at Currumbin Clinic and developed an interest in addictive disorders, especially those related to alcohol use.
Born and raised in Brisbane, Dr Barton completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2012 and Doctor of Medicine in 2016, both at Griffith University. He is an accredited training supervisor for the RANZCP Fellowship Program and maintains an active interest in teaching registrars and medical students.
Dr Barton has extensive experience in both public and private sector psychiatry. He has worked in several different states across Australia and enjoys travel more broadly as a way of understanding different cultures and backgrounds. He enjoys psychiatry because it is at the intersection of brain and mind, nature, and nurture. He therefore adopts a holistic approach tailored to each individual including both biological and psychological treatments to help patients return to function and achieve their life goals.

Dr Kannan Kallapiran is a passionate psychiatrist with over 20 years' experience in this field. He is also certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and trained in Infant Mental Health. He is keen on enhancing perinatal mental health as a foundation for positive infant mental health and overall family wellbeing. He utilises a combination of medical and psychological therapies such as CBT, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to provide an integrated treatment approach. He has worked in various public inpatient and outpatient-based services across NSW, WA and QLD. He believes in holistic care, promoting healthy lifestyle along with physical and mental health. He works in a strength-based, recovery-oriented model with his clients in a collaborative manner empowering them to live in alignment with their values.
Dr Kallapiran is interested in early intervention, prevention of mental disorders and is enrolled in a PhD with the University of Queensland, on evaluating the impact of Positive Childhood Experiences. He is a fellow of the RANZCP, Faculty of Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, member of RANZCP Section of Perinatal and Infant Psychiatry, Marce Society and World Association for Infant Mental Health.
Dr Kallapiran currently works as a Medical Director in CYMHS, Children's Health Queensland HHS and sincerely believes that we can facilitate the development of resilient children by promoting emotional wellbeing within the family.
Dr Katya Nelson has over 12 years of experience as a consultant psychiatrist specialising in child and adolescent mental health, as well as working with young adults (18-25). She has a clinical interest in high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and it's comorbidities, having been trained in using gold standard assessment tools including the ADOS and ADOS-2 for over 10 years.
Having received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science (MBBS) in London, UK, she completed her psychiatry training at the Maudsley Hospital in South London, achieving a Certificate of Completion of Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2011. She has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2009 and Fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) since 2022.
For over 8 years Dr Nelson has worked as a senior psychiatrist and has been a director, including at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. She has extensive experience in treating a wide range of mental health disorders especially in adolescents and has experience of developing appropriate treatment and day programmes for the like, offering a holistic approach to care.

Dr Lana Fernandes is a psychiatrist who works collaboratively with patients to promote recovery and health, and is able to diagnose and offer treatment for a broad range of adult mental health problems.
She has a special interest in mood disorders, trauma-related disorders and perinatal psychiatry.
Dr Fernandes provides inpatient and outpatient services, taking into consideration medication and varied psychological interventions. She has training in the use of Psychodynamic Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Dr Mark Spelman was elected as the hospital's Director of Medical Services in 2015.
Dr Spelman has been an accredited Psychiatrist at Belmont Private Hospital for over 20 years and has an onsite private practice.
His role is to provide professional leadership of medical staff accredited to practice at the hospital, through ensuring compliance with medical standards and promotion of the medical profession.
The Director of Medical Services also provides advice on clinical governance, continuous quality improvement, medical best practice and patient safety.
Dr Melissa White BA (Hons I); MBBS; FRANZCP; Cert. Child Adol. Psych. is a consultant psychiatrist and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). She also holds the RANZCP Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr White was the Faculty of Arts Valedictorian of The University of Queensland for her graduating year in her humanities degree. She is a Senior Lecturer with the schools of medicine of both The University of Queensland and Griffith University. Dr White is a Court Appointed Examiner for the Mental Health Court Queensland.
Dr White sees children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing psychiatric and psychological difficulties. Dr White particularly enjoys providing individualised treatments to secure improved trajectories of psychological development to young people and their families. Dr White accepts referrals from specialist psychiatrists requiring an episode of in-patient treatment for their young patients and to whom their patients will return for continuation of their outpatient care.
Dr White's other interest is neuropsychiatry, a subspecialty area focusing on the psychiatric consequences of neurological problems. This includes seeing patients with conditions such as intellectual impairment, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Tourette's syndrome and brain injury. She accepts outpatient referrals for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for patients with treatment-resistant depression.
In addition to her residency training and country service, Dr White completed 12 months of general surgical training and 6 months of general practice training before committing to a career in psychiatry. She maintains an active interest in medicine and surgery.
Dr Michael Hagan is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a particular interest in adult, young adult and adolescent psychiatry. He has a broad interest in the care of patients with psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD and ADHD, and assisting in the management of acute and chronic mental health challenges. Since 1993, he has practiced in Western Australia (including at The Marian Centre) and in Queensland at Currumbin Clinic and Robina Private Hospital.
Dr Hagan has been Director of Services for Addiction and Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services and Medical Director of Robina Private Hospital. He holds a Diploma of Obstetrics, a Certificate in Child and Adolescence and is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and Member Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP).

Dr Sean Gills was recently elected as Chairperson on the Medical Advisory Committee in February 2021.

Dr Shama Kanodia is a perinatal and general psychiatrist with over 19 years of post-graduate experience. She has general and specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Dr Kanodia has trained extensively in mental health in both the public and private sector in Queensland.
