Conley Broome - Founder

Mr. Broome spent 25 years as a firefighter with the City of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, with nine years as a Deputy Fire Marshal for the Fire Prevention Bureau. Conley worked two years in the Fire Prevention Bureau as a CEDMAT (Combustible Explosive and Dangerous Material) Inspector, where he was the lead Inspector for all Marine facilities. He re-wrote the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's policy for Hazardous Materials applicable to the Thunderboat Races (Hydroplane Boats) initiating substantial improvements for public and fire safety on the Mission Bay waterfront. It should be noted that the City of San Diego is the seventh largest city in the United States. Conley was assigned to the Special Events Section of the Fire Prevention Bureau for 8 years where he performed plan check, site inspection, and permit approval for special events. He has also been instrumental in innovatively training over 1,200 operation firefighter personnel to effectively mitigate a major over crowded nightclub. Conley received the Fire Prevention Bureau "Employee of the Quarter Award" for his efforts in that training. He was the Fire Department's Liaison to the Operation Safe Club Task Force. The Task Force was comprised of SDPD Vice and California State Alcohol Beverage Control personnel. As a nationwide one of kind Task Force, they also performed educational and compliance training to nightclub owners and their staff. Conley holds numerous certifications from the National Fire Academy, such as, Fire Inspection Principles, Fire Inspection Principles: "Structures and Systems", and Fire Service Interpersonal Dynamics. He is also a graduate of the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute, which consist of a five-year course that teaches students executive skills needed to manage a fire department. Conley Broome has inspected thousands of Hazmat businesses, Office Bldgs and Special Events in his nine years in the Fire Prevention Bureau. When the same fire code issues/violations for these businesses occurred repeatedly, the necessity for consultation became apparent. To address this necessity, Event Fire Safety Consulting was conceived.

Dr. Elizabeth Stanton

Dr. Elizabeth Stanton is an associate professor and serves as the chair of the Psychology Department at San Diego Christian College. She graduated from San Diego State University (BA, in English and Psychology), Wesleyan University (MA, Psychology), and Southern California Seminary (PsyD). In addition, she is the Director of Content for Taylor Study Method. Dr. Stanton actively participates in community efforts to address violence and other areas of a collective concern. She is also a certified domestic violence prevention counselor. Currently, Dr. Stanton is a part of a collaborative effort with community agencies to repair the relationship between law enforcement and community members.

Kirk Roberts

Kirk Roberts has worked as a fire suppression crewman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department for 25 years. Seventeen of those 25 years were spent as a certified Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) technician/specialist for the SDFD HIRT (Hazardous Incident Response Team) team. As a member of the HIRT team his duties included; responding to all Hazmat Emergencies throughout San Diego County; identification, analysis, mitigation, clean-up and transportation of Hazmat emergencies. In addition to responding to emergencies, Kirk also was responsible for the day to day duties of the driver/operator for Hazmat apparatus; repair, maintenance, and operation of all monitoring/detection equipment and the instruction of fellow crew members on updated Hazmat information. Kirk Roberts has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from San Diego State University and an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Miramar College. He has also completed the Fire Officer's Certification program. Larry Darwent

Larry has over 20 years of law enforcement experience which includes 7 years as coordinating enforcement and education activities related to the GAP (Grant Assistance Program) Grant awarded to the San Diego Police Department from California's Alcoholic Beverage Control [ABC]. He has presented over 100 lectures concerning the various laws related to the service of alcohol and fraudulent documents related to underage drinking. Larry has participated in over 100 ABC LEAD (Licensee Education on Alcohol & Drugs) classes as well as having conducted enforcement at over 50 special events. He has conducted well over 300 operations concerning the sales and service of alcohol which gives him an insight as to the issues which commonly lead up the various violations business often experience. Larry implemented and organized the City of San Diego Safe Club Program before many of the terrible tragedies which we have all recently seen on television related to night clubs. The Safe Club Program consisted of law enforcement working with city fire marshals conducting enforcement and education ensuring the numerous clubs maintained a safe environment for both their patrons as well as their employees.

Ron Greco

Mr. Greco has over 28 years of experience as an expert in pyrotechnical displays. He has put on large-scale pyrotechnical fireworks displays all over the United States, and is an expert in the logistics, safety, and production of fireworks shows.

Thomas Johnson Jr.

Thomas Johnson Jr. has served 15 years in law enforcement with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MSCO). He functioned for 6 years in the tactical operations division. Thomas is trained in human smuggling, high risk transports and extraditions. During time as a general instructor for the MCSO Academy he has become an expert and a subject matter expert on less than lethal options. He has taught courses that include Taser, ALS and Defense Technologies User instruments and direct impact options. Thomas's courses are currently utilized by MCSO staff, new recruits, outside law enforcement agencies and contractors applied for their jobs. Mr. Johnson grooms individuals for unforeseen emergencies. He teaches first responder life-saving techniques that include CPR and self-defensive tactics. Thomas also serves as a mentor for individuals seeking employment in law enforcement and who are preparing to enter an accredited academy. Current teachings include Active Shooter and Hostage Rescue. Instructing individuals for security details related to executive and high valued assets.
