Alan Livelsberger - CFO

Favorite Color: Phthalo Blue (Green Shade) As Finance Director, Alan is responsible for overseeing daily cash management and operations of the Finance and Accounting teams. He also leads current and long-term planning with all department Managers for fiscal budgets, capital budgets and maintaining corporate financial metrics. Working alongside the President, Alan has overall responsibility for all financial aspects of the company strategy. Prior to joining GOLDEN, he served in a variety of roles at QVC in both Finance and Operations. Alan received his Bachelor of Science from Penn State University and his MBA from Villanova University.

Barbara Golden

Favorite Color: Quinacridone / Nickel Azo Gold Barbara, co-founder of the company, is responsible for managing the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts (SAGF), which was created to give back to artists and honor the legacy of Sam and Adele Golden. In this capacity, Barbara will direct the SAGF Residency Program, which will give artists direct access to studio space, living space, technical support personnel, time, and materials for the creation of their artwork. Supporting workshop teachers and acting as ambassador for GOLDEN products with artists and arts organizations around the country is what Barbara does every day as well!

Barbara Schindler - COO, President

Favorite Color: Permanent Violet Dark Barbara has held the role of President since 2001. This appointment reflected strategies to deepen management resources corresponding to corporate growth in revenues and company structure. Schindler joined the organization in 1997 as Controller and also served as Chief Financial Officer.

Ben Gavett

Favorite Color: Quinacridone Magenta Ben is responsible for all regulatory compliance issues including intellectual property, consumer protection, transportation, trade, and environmental health & safety. He started with the company in 1988 with responsibilities in quality control, research and technical support. He is a past Chairman of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Committee D01.57 on Artist Paints and Related Materials. Ben received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University.

Bill Hartman - VP of Sales

Favorite Color: Pyrrole Red Bill is responsible for management of the sales function at GOLDEN, including structural development for the brand sales channels and the GOLDEN sales team. Hartman also oversees all sales forecasting and customer service functions. He works closely with the Marketing and Operations groups optimizing strategies, namely "delighting the customer." Hartman has served in various roles within the art industry throughout his career. Hartman is also the varsity boy's basketball coach at Gilbertsville-Mt.Upton Central High School.

Carl Minchew

Carl met GOLDEN Management in 2016, he was the Vice President of Color Innovation and Design, leading the development of the entire organizations' new color and design initiatives. He began his career as a chemist for the firm and for over 39 years worked and led in many positions including quality assurance, operations management, environment, health and safety, as well as color technology. During that time, he participated in the development of the American Coatings Association's Coatings Care program and served at the national level on the Regulatory Negotiation for Architectural Coatings VOC. Carl is also a collaborative inventor of over 20 different patents in the paint and coatings industry. Carl's industry experience as well as depth of knowledge in the space of product development, safety and compliance as well as marketing adds a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our continued success and strategic planning. Carl will be starting in 2022 as the Executive Director of the Color Guild, a consortium of over 50 paint manufacturers from 16 different countries, dedicated to the marketing, promotion and selling of paint products.

Dana Rice

Dana is responsible for GOLDEN's commercial coatings division known as GOLDEN Paintworks®. Paintworks handles private label and OEM accounts, as well as a branded architectural line called GPW, which is comprised of Decorative Coatings and Mural & Theme paints. Operating under the same umbrella of quality-minded research & development, manufacturing, and attention to detail as in the art materials industry, Paintworks is recognized for quality, consistency, and on-time deliveries. Dana and her team engage with other businesses to meet their needs for paint products and product innovation, staying abreast of market trends to ensure our partners' success both today and in the future. When not working at GOLDEN, Dana is likely to be found out walking her five dogs and attending sheepdog trials on the weekends.

Glen Chwala - COO

Favorite Color: Cobalt Blue Hue As Director of Operations, Glen oversees the entire production process-including Paintmaking, Filling, and Material Handling. Additionally, Glen also oversees Facilities, which includes Wastewater, Maintenance, and Housekeeping. His focus is on ensuring proper staffing and training levels for optimum functioning and implementing lean manufacturing strategies in order to get the best products to our customers as efficiently and quickly as possible. Chwala works in tandem with the Safety and Compliance Department on continuous improvement to ensure the safety and efficiency of all GOLDEN employees. Glen graduated from Clarkson University with a BS in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management. When not working at GOLDEN, Glen can be found hard at work on his latest DIY project, whether around his family's home in Manlius or roaming the hardware store trying to figure out how to incorporate his newest tool in the next project.

Jim Hayes - CTO

Favorite Color: Sap Green Hue Jim oversees all laboratory functions at GOLDEN, including Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and the Custom Lab. He ensures our products and processes conform to the highest standards, and leads research and development efforts involving innovative new product formulations. He also assists the Custom Lab in working one-on-one with artists to make unique products to meet their needs.

Jim Henderson - Treasurer

Favorite Color: Terre Vert Hue Jim started with Golden Artist Colors in 2009 as Corporate Controller and most recently served as Chief Financial Officer. He is now retired from the company, but continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors. During his time as CFO, Jim provided significant expertise required for the company's sustainability, overseeing all fiscal matters of the company especially in areas of finance, strategic growth and acquisition. Jim's background includes Corporate Treasurer/Officer, Controller and Director of Risk for Benjamin Moore & Co., a billion dollar business owned by Berkshire Hathaway. During his 33 years there, he gained extensive experience and knowledge in managing multi-million dollar operating budgets leading the Company's Global Treasury and Risk functions that included directing over $300 Million in cash and pension investments.

Jonathon Karelse

Jonathon Karelse is the CEO of NorthFind Management, and is a global leader in demand planning, operations, predictive analytics and IBP. He combines extensive experience with the latest best practices to improve supply chain operations, optimally leveraging people, processes and tools. Jonathon is leading the conversation that Behavioral Economics represents the next important differentiator for effective decision-making in most companies. He believes that by understanding the causes of biases and heuristics in planning, organizations can make rapid improvements in real-world performance. Mark Golden - CEO, Founder

Mark has 30 years of industry experience and was chosen as a recipient of the Small Business Person of the Year for New York State award. In addition, he was recognized by President Bill Clinton for his activities in creating a business that exemplifies the spirit of Corporate Citizenship in providing a work environment that values all employees. He has been a guest lecturer at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the Tate Gallery in London and the College Arts Association convention. He has guest lectured in colleges throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan. Furthermore, Mark has co-authored several technical papers on issues dealing with conservation of modern materials and acrylic paintings.

Nathan Watkajtys - Chief Procurement Officer

Favorite Color: Chromium Oxide Green As Supply Chain Director, Nathan is responsible for Purchasing, Supply Planning, Logistics, and Distribution. His team is responsible for creating a production plan to support sales, procuring raw materials for manufacturing, and shipping product to GOLDEN customers. Creating a strategy for Supply Chain resilience and minimizing disruption to manufacturing are key goals. Nathan graduated from Clarkson University with a BS in Global Supply Chain Management and has previous experience in Food Manufacturing and Grocery Wholesale/Distribution.

Peter France

Peter is the leading advocate in Europe and Africa for all Golden Artist Colors brands, including GOLDEN Artist Acrylics, Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors, QoR Artist Watercolors, and PanPastel Artist Pastels brands. Based in Belgium, he is the primary contact point with all territory distributors, sales staff and key retail accounts. As marketing liaison, he also supports the company's connection to the arts community and growing the educational resources, which have become a hallmark of Golden Artist Colors' marketing efforts. France has served in various roles within the art industry throughout his 30 year career.

Peter Greeley

Favorite Color: Manganese Blue Hue Peter Greeley, our Middle East / Asian Sales Manager, is a seasoned sales executive that comes to us with significant experience in the Asian markets. Peter currently resides in New Jersey and maintains residency status in Hong Kong, where he lived and worked for nearly 20 years previously. He is fluent in Mandarin and will be a terrific addition to our team and a great advocate for our customers in that important region.

Taylor Zieno - CHRO

Favorite Color: Payne's Gray Taylor began her career at Golden Artist Colors in 2016 as a student assistant within the Human Resources Department. Since graduating from Marywood University with her Bachelor of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, she has taken on multiple roles within the department. Taylor now serves the company as Human Resources Director where she oversees recruiting, benefits, training, and payroll functions. Her team's goal is to inspire every single employee to live the company values. To uphold these values herself, Taylor has enrolled in a master's program in Organization Development and Change through Penn State University. She also strives to improve her local community by serving on multiple Boards of Directors and supporting a number of committies for local organizations.

Ulysses Jackson

Ulysses is our Senior Formulator with over 15 years coating industry experience, and recipient of a US Patent for the development of QoR® Watercolor. He is involved in a wide range of functions at Golden Artist Colors such as New Product Development, Product Improvement and Technical Support. As a scientist and a professional artist, Ulysses offers unique insights into Custom Product Development for individual artists, conservators and museums. When Ulysses is not in the Lab researching coatings for GOLDEN, he is maintaining an active studio practice furthering his passion for artist materials using GOLDEN products.
