LAVA

The Laboratory for Advanced Visualization & Applications (LAVA) at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, is an award-winning facility founded in 2014 by Jason Leigh, Director Emeritus of the prestigious Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at the University of Illinois, Chicago. LAVA's mission is to spearhead groundbreaking research and development in areas of data visualization, computer supported collaboration, virtual and augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, to advance scientific discovery, engineering innovation, and training... LAVA consists of a 1,200 square-foot facility equipped with advanced visualization technologies, including an ultra-high-resolution 3D display wall, virtual reality and augmented reality systems, and large-scale 3D printers. These systems are connected to a 10 gigabit-per-second network link, giving LAVA access to 100 gigabit-per-second bandwidth for collaboration with research institutions worldwide.
