Alice Sampson

Alice is an academic criminologist who started her career researching in local communities and criminal justice agencies responses to areas of high crime and violence. After working at the Home Office research unit Alice moved to the East London University to mange a research team assessing the impact of urban renewal and crime prevention schemes in East London. As director of the Centre for Institutional Studies, Alice expanded the research to incorporate evaluations of international crime reduction initiatives focused on young people living in low-income high violence neighbourhoods. Alice is continuing this research whilst visiting the Mannheim Centre for Crime and Criminology at the London School of Economics. Alice is a trained and experienced community mediator, was chair of the voluntary organisation Lewisham Action Mediation Project, and volunteers for two youth offending services as a panel member for referral orders

Andrew Waugh

Andrew started his own Architecture practice in 1993 and has been in partnership with Anthony Thistleton as Waugh Thistleton Architects Ltd since 1997. They have always been based in Shoreditch and have been very much part of the regeneration of the area. His practice is involved in a diverse range of projects from large regeneration master plans in the borough to smaller work on individual buildings with both public, private and charitable clients. The vast majority of his work is in the Borough of Hackney and he has close links with both local people and politicians. This wide ranging workload has given Andrew direct personal experience in many of the areas in which the Trust works. He has always been a great admirer of the Trust's work and brings his experience in architecture, design, property development, construction and business to the Trust at Board level. Andrew has worked for a number of years on many committees for Hackney Council, Universities and the RIBA. He enjoys the process of discussion - listening and contributing to healthy debate.

Cllr Carole

Cllr Carole Williams is a five-term elected councillor. Having held many positions, Carole was first appointed Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Equalities in 2016, becoming the borough's first ever Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and HR. Her portfolio is broad ranging, covering adult learning, volunteering, vulnerable migrants, trade unions and refugees and, in 2019, Hackney's response Cllr Carole Williams is at the forefront of the council's anti-racism work and the Review, Rename, Reclaim work to make Hackney's public spaces more representative of the communities that live here. Carole sits on the Greater London Employment Forum and the Greater London Provincial Council and Chair Hackney's Council Joint Committee which promotes cooperation between the Council as an employer with its employees through their Trade Unions. This year, Carole was appointed as the lead member for People for Central London Forward (CLF), representing them on the Skills for Londoners Board, which advises the Mayor of London on adult skills policy.

Dr Jessica Jones Nielsen

Jessica is a counselling psychologist and the Associate Dean of People & Culture for the School or Arts and Social Sciences at City, University of London. She is also the academic lead for the Race Equality and Athena SWAN Charter groups and provides academic leadership, direction, advice and support to colleagues involved in the delivery of racial justice and gender equality initiatives. Jessica has a background in community-based participatory research and examines the intersections between determinants of health and illness such as ethnicity, gender, and mental health. Through her research, Jessica is passionate about promoting engagement in positive health behaviours and resilience with particular emphasis on the health and well-being of minority ethnic community groups. Jessica is trained and registered counselling psychologist, and has a clear focus of driving equality, diversity and inclusion across a range of sectors and organisations. She is proud to serve as a board member of the Shoreditch Trust.

Dr Jonathon Tomlinson

Dr Lucy Carter

Dr Lucy Carter MBBS, BSc (Sociology) MRCGP describes herself as a mother, runner, and GP. She has worked as a GP partner in Hackney since 2005. Lucy is a clinical senior lecturer on the Msc Physicians Associates programme at Queen Mary University, teaching medical and physician associate students. She holds a PGcert in higher education and takes an interest in substance misuse and mental health. She is also part of a steering committee with Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, looking at racial bias in medicine. Jacqui Roberts Webster - CEO

Jacqui is Chief Executive at Shoreditch Trust. In this role she led the transformation of Shoreditch Trust from a fully funded government programme (New Deal for Communities) to an independent, anchor organisation with a mixed portfolio of income, utilising enterprise assets and building capacity to deliver an ambitious programme. Jacqui has a broad experience across public, education, charity and cultural sectors, specialising in communications and public affairs. She previously held the position of Shoreditch Trust Director of Communications, Consultation and Partnerships. She is a Fellow of the RSA, has a Post Graduate Certificate in Further Education and began her career in education working as a teacher in cultural studies. Jacqui is a trained Facilitator on the British Council's International Facilitator Development programme and leads the Trust's Active Citizens programme. Her background in education and has served as a strong basis for a belief in embedding research and personal development and training in the work of Shoreditch Trust. Jeremy Gardner - Chairman

Jeremy first became involved with Shoreditch Trust in 2003 when working as Strategic Property Director at the City of London Corporation where he was responsible for the joint venture property initiatives at Orsman Road and Hoxton Square. He has continued to take a close interest in the Trust and its work supporting the people of Hackney and the City ever since. Jeremy is a partner at real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield where he specialises in supporting Central London landowners get the best from their property assets. He is also the Surveyor to the Worshipful Company of Drapers'. Jeremy is privileged to serve on the Trust's Board, initially as property expert and now as Chair, and to work closely with the Trust's staff and fellow Board members to deliver its programmes for the local community.

Jo Evans

Jo is a Community Coordinator and her role involves working with people in Hackney who want to get involved in all the activities, especially if they have been feeling isolated or lonely. Jo has lived in Hackney for over 20 years and has a good knowledge of the local area. She has always worked in community settings and has previously been a play worker and mentor. In her precious spare time Jo DJ's on a radio show once a month called Reel Rebels radio, a local community station, and runs a club night with a group of fellow DJ's called 'Mind the Gap', addressing the need of older people wanting to dance who felt 'too old for Dalston but too young for Wetherspoon's'! The money raised on the door is donated to local causes. Jo began working for Shoreditch Trust in January 2015 and is passionate about the Trust's commitment to addressing social inequality. Kati Martin

Kati is the Organisational Support Manager at Shoreditch Trust. She started her career in buying for various high street fashion brands and has over 25 years' experience of organisational roles, working in large and small businesses, including running her own business for several years. Kati has lived in East London for over 20 years, loves the mix and unique strength of community, creativity and diversity within the area and is excited to be able to support the valuable work that Shoreditch Trust is doing.

Ken Grinell

Ken can be found most days in the restaurant working with trainees and helping to develop their skills in a professional kitchen setting. He also assists them with training relevant to employability. Varying-sized groups of children will also attend sessions lead by Ken introducing them to baking techniques from the Trust's always evolving recipe archive. The goal is to inspire them make food they enjoy eating and collaborate with each other. Ken has many years experience working in restaurants around London, football stadiums and also nurseries. He actually began his chef journey as a trainee at Waterhouse.

Laura Prikken

Laura is manages the Long Term Conditions programme including the Stroke Project, Community Connections and Health and Wellbeing Coaching. Laura joined the Stroke Project in 2005 as a project worker on goal attainment scaling (GAS) for stroke survivors. She went on to working with groups, individuals and volunteers as a project worker, volunteer coordinator, project coordinator and became manager in February 2018. Her role currently involves managing staff, sessional staff and volunteers; delivering training; communicating with partners in the statutory and voluntary sectors; and developing new initiatives. Laura is passionate about giving a voice to those affected by stroke, improving their opportunities, health and wellbeing and raising awareness of stroke in the wider community to help prevent further strokes. Laura's background is in Psychology. She trained as a clinical and health care psychologist in the Netherlands and worked for several years in a variety of settings including counselling for anxiety and trauma and neurological rehabilitation before relocating to London.
