Awareness raising activities undertaken by WIO CARE aims at increasing the awareness about the importance of coastal and marine resources among a wide range of stakeholders, including amongst others local communities, policy makers, and tourist. Further, WIO CARE intends to increase awareness about the coastal and marine environment in the Western Indian Ocean to the international community... "WIO CARE" stands for Western Indian Ocean - Community, Awareness, Research, and Environment, but the name has a double meaning as we also want to care for the Western Indian Ocean (WIO)... WIO CARE: Western Indian Ocean - Community, Awareness, Research, and Environment vision is to work with communities, raise awareness, conduct research, and to conserve the environment in the Western Indian Ocean
