Betty Jean

Betty Jean (BJ) joined the firm as Business Manager in September 2021. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Management with a minor in Accounting from Fisher College. She has two graduate degrees: an MBA from Fitchburg State University and a Masters in Education from American International College. Betty joined the firm with more than twenty years of business management experience during her comprehensive career. She recently left public education as a business educator and is an adjunct instructor at the collegiate level. Betty has been a Notary Public for Bristol County since 1976 and is a Microsoft Certified Excel Specialist. She resides in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. She enjoys cooking, baking, entertaining, gardening and being with her family and friends. Betty is a published poet and is compiling her own cookbook.

Darah L. Schofield

Darah L. Schofield, Esq. is a trust and estates attorney with broad experience in estate planning, estate and gift tax planning, charitable gift planning, wealth and business transfer planning, and estate and trust administration. Darah designs and drafts estate plans that meet the specific objectives of her clients while minimizing tax burdens. She works regularly with individuals and families who are residents of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Florida, to assist as they navigate the challenges of managing their wealth and passing it on to future generations. Before joining Marshall Law Offices, Darah worked in private practice as a litigation associate with the land use and planning department of Nutter McClennan & Fish LLP. She also served as Clerk to the Honorable Chief Justice Karyn Faith Scheier of the Massachusetts Land Court and interned for Federal Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. In addition to her legal work, Darah enjoys skiing, hiking, gardening, and raising her son. Darah is a graduate of Williams College ('01) and received her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School ('05). Darah is licensed to practice in Rhode Island, Florida and Massachusetts. She is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Rhode Island, the American Bar Association, and the Bar Associations of Rhode Island, Florida and Massachusetts.

Denise Perkins

Denise joined the firm in 2020 as a Finance Paralegal. Denise brings years of experience with a specialization in trust and tax accounting from a prominent law firm in Illinois. Denise received her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois. Denise is also a Notary Public where she resides in Arlington Heights, Illinois with her husband and family. In her spare time, Denise enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and golf.

Jason P. Marshall is the founder of MARSHALL LAW OFFICES Ltd. He founded the practice to serve the needs of high net worth and highly compensated individuals who are faced with the challenges of managing their wealth and passing it on to future generations. He has more than 25 years of experience in trust and estates. Jason is personally involved in every engagement, guiding clients through the complexities of estate, business succession, charitable planning and gifting as well as successfully representing clients in estate and gift tax audits. Jason also has extensive experience in the areas of estate and trust administration, often serving as a trustee and regularly advising other fiduciaries in complex estate and trust administration matters. In addition, Jason has testified before the Rhode Island Superior Court as an expert witness regarding trust and estate matters. Jason received his undergraduate degree in economics from University of Illinois in 1988 and his law degree from Chicago-Kent in 1994. He is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Illinois. Jason resides with his wife, Sara, and their children in Wakefield, Rhode Island. In his spare time, he enjoys attending his children's athletic events and theatre productions, and travelling to Chicago to visit family. Affiliations Jason is past President and Director of the Estate Planning Council of Rhode Island, and a past member of the Professional Advisors Council at the Rhode Island Foundation. He is also a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association where he is active on the Probate and Trust Committee, and is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, active on the Estates and Probate Section. A speaker and lecturer on advanced estate planning and tax issues, Jason has received national recognition as a leading attorney and advisor to affluent individuals. Jason was previously selected by Worth magazine as one of the Nation's Top 100 Attorneys in the area of trusts, estates, tax, fiduciary advice, and probate. Jason is involved in many community activities and has served as a board member and on committees for numerous charitable organizations. He also serves on the board of directors of South County Health (formerly South County Hospital Healthcare System) and as Chair of its Professional Advisor Group and Chair of its Governance Committee.

Kristin M. Capalbo

She has 19 years of legal experience and extensive knowledge in estate planning, estate administration, tax preparation, and real estate in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Kristin received her Bachelor of Science from the School of Justice Studies at Roger Williams University. She is a Notary Public and a registered tax professional with the Internal Revenue Service. Kristin and her husband reside in Westerly, Rhode Island. She teaches dance and enjoys cooking and spending time at the beach.

Maria Blair

Maria joined the firm in 2021. She has over 30 years of experience in tax preparation with various accounting firms. She specializes in trust, estates, gift and individual tax returns. Maria received her bachelor's degree from American University and her Master's from the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, Arizona. Maria is an Enrolled Agent (EA), a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury, which is the highest credential awarded by the Internal Revenue Service. Maria and her husband live in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading and attending the opera.

Robert J. Tyler

Rob joined Marshall Law Offices in October 2022 as a Fiduciary Specialist after a 41-year career as a Trust Officer. Over his career, he has worked in both large and moderately sized corporate trust departments. He is experienced in settling decedent estates, administering complex trusts and other managed accounts. He received his undergraduate degree from Williams College, graduated from the National Trust School and The National Graduate Trust Scholl, with Honors. Rob is active in the Rhode Island Estate Planning Council, serving as President 2020 to 2021. He also serves as Treasurer of Camp Ruggles, Inc. and as a board member of In-Sight. He and his wife, Linda have four adult children and live in North Attleboro, MA.

Tricia Halloran

When Tricia was hired in 2014, she had 13 years of experience, working in both New York and Rhode Island law firms. She has a broad range of legal knowledge in the areas of estate planning, corporate, litigation and real estate. Tricia is also a Notary Public. Tricia received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware and her Paralegal Certificate from Adelphi University. Tricia resides with her family in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. She enjoys being a piano instructor and a member of a hand bell choir. In the past, she was also active in the Faith Alliance, a domestic violence advocacy group.
