The transformation required a complete reset of business processes and procedures as well as attitudes. Dr. Aaron Derouin

Aaron Derouin is a certified professional ergonomist in both the U.S. (CPE) and Canada (CCPE) with experience in various industry sectors, including: manufacturing, nuclear energy, and aerospace. In 2020, Aaron completed a doctorate in Occupational Biomechanics and Ergonomics from the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University's, where he examined the effects of night vision googles on helicopter aircrew performance and muscular demand. Founder and CEO, Lisa McGuire oversees all management, governance, and strategic direction of the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC, the not-for-profit health and safety association for BC manufacturers and food processors. Under Lisa's leadership, the organization more than doubled membership while growing a multi-layer infrastructure under a 14-director Policy Board. Lisa is also the organizational founder of the BC Safety Charter, whose vision is to engage BC senior executives to create a culture of safety and well-being to make our province the safest place to live and work in Canada. The BC Safety Charter transitioned into an independent society, The Executive Health & Safety Council of BC, in 2020. Other important accomplishments include leading the development of a National Health & Safety Audit Standard and ongoing work to establish a national health and safety professional certification program in manufacturing. Lisa's educational background includes an Agricultural Science education through the University of Saskatchewan and UBC. Lisa served ten years in the poultry industry in food safety and cost process analysis positions with the latter six years in charge of the Occupational Safety Program of a poultry operation. Michael has held many positions within the company including field sales, management, and leadership. He is currently responsible for the Canadian business, which has 200+ employees and two manufacturing sites in Chilliwack, British Columbia, and Mississauga, Ontario. Robert has managed safety as a tradesperson, shop manager, safety professional, and a learning and development professional. He began his career as a mechanic working in fleet maintenance for the Canadian Armed Forces. As a civilian employee at the Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack, he was a member and co-chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee for nine years. After completing the Base General Safety Officer course, Robert did an acting term as the Base General Safety Officer. After the base closed, he ran the Hunter Education Program for the BC Wildlife Federation and subsequently held several roles in training and development for companies including the City of Edmonton, Saipem Construction Canada, and Skytrain. As an OHS trainer with the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC, Robert delivers instructor-led courses in Joint Health and Safety, Risk Assessment, Hazard ID, and more. He also supports the development of courses. Robert is passionate about life-long learning and has never stopped learning throughout his career. An industrial engineer by profession, Rosa chose to work in the health and safety field very early on. Her father had a workplace accident that affected the family in many ways and prompted her to dedicate her career to helping to prevent workplace accidents. Rosa spent many years in health and safety roles but also led projects in lean manufacturing and operations analytics. After working in a variety of industries - including open-pit mining and textiles - she joined the Alliance as an advisor. Today you will find her leading a team of excellent instructional designers and trainers in the Training and Development department. Her unique skills include seeing the opportunity of potential growth in both people and business, planning projects and action items and demonstrating leadership in her team and with clients who progress through their program implementation. Collaboration, creative problem-solving and adaptability are also skills Rosa brings to her many roles. Rosa completed her education at the National University of Saint Augustine in Arequipa, Peru - graduating from the Industrial Engineering program. Vince Sciamanna is the President of The Garaventa Lift Group an international company owned by Savaria, a Canadian public company. The Group specialises in the manufacture of home elevators, lifts for people with disabilities as well as stairlifts and compact elevators. Garaventa Lift employs 500 people around the world with just over 200 employees at their custom-built manufacturing location in Surrey. Vince was born in Switzerland and grew up speaking several languages. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and began his career as a project engineer for a Swiss bridge component manufacturer. Vince left the Alps in 1999 and moved to the Rockies to join Garaventa Lift as the director of business development. In 2018 he took over the global lead of Garaventa Lift and regularly travels between Canada, the USA, and Europe. Away from work, Vince is involved with the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce and volunteers his time supporting several local community and charity events.

Chief Operating Officer of the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC, Wayne is an experienced leader in all areas of operations, manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain. A proven sales and marketing leader, Wayne has led multiple businesses serving the manufacturing, retail, and wholesale channels. A teacher, mentor, and community supporter, Wayne is a member of the Canadian Mental Health Association board of directors and an instructor in the BCIT Operations Management Degree program. Past Chair of the Habitat for Humanity Canada board of directors, Wayne also served on the board of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters and was a member of the 8th Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference of Canada.
