Solar energy is emitted from sunlight that radiates onto the earth. Solar energy output each hour is a billion times more than the amount of electricity used by the world's population. Not all of this energy reaches the earth's surface. Some of this energy is absorbed by the atmosphere and some energy is reflected into space. However, each day enough energy radiates onto the United States that it could provide power to the country for more than a year.
