Selina Sutherland Private Hospital is named after a very feisty Scotswoman who, in the 1860's, was instrumental in establishing the first hospital in Wairarapa... Our hospital was established in 1996 and is the only private surgical hospital in the Wairarapa. When the new Wairarapa Hospital was completed in 2006, Selina Sutherland remained an integral part of the design, and moved to our new, purpose built wing adjacent to the periopertive suite at the same time... The hospital is managed by a Charitable Trust and headed by a Board of Directors providing sustainable and affordable health care treatment in the Wairarapa. Selina Sutherland Hospital supports a shared vision with Wairarapa DHB .
