The Ventura River Watershed is the only major watershed in Southern California that does not rely on imported water. However, the challenges associated with climate change, land use change, and growing water demand in the region pose serious challenges to future water availability. Groundwater and surface water resources within the Ventura River Watershed are already heavily utilized, leading to the degradation of important riparian habitat.
