Amanda Schaller is the Director of the Office of Admissions and Services for International Students (OASIS) Amanda, a native of Hamilton, Ontario Canada moved to New York in 2007 to attend university on a full soccer scholarship. In 2009, Amanda transferred to Lindenwood University and was a member of the Women's soccer team. Amanda received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts degree in International Relations with an emphasis in Public Administration from Lindenwood University. Cassandra Brown Ray

Cassandra Brown Ray, CPA, MBA, joined the Saint Louis Zoo in 1992 as a staff accountant and served as the Controller/Director of Finance since 1999. In 2019, Ray was named Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Finance and Purchasing departments and leads financial sustainability planning for the organization. She also works closely with the governance of the Saint Louis Zoo, including the Audit, Investment and Finance committees. Ray is the Diversity & Inclusion team leader for the Zoo. Ray serves on the Lindenwood University Board of Directors (2019) as well as the Board of Directors for DUO. She is a graduate of FOCUS Leadership St. Louis (2014) and a member of the inaugural class of the FOCUS Impact Fellows, a team charged with developing and implementing an action plan using the 2015 Ferguson Commission Report as a guideline. She earned her MBA from Lindenwood University and her undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Before joining the Zoo, she worked for General Dynamics as an internal auditor and McDonnell Douglas as a cost control analyst.

Cathleen Johnson

Cathleen Johnson earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Tech in 2000, worked for Kollmorgan (on the prototype for what is now known as the Segway), did a post-doctoral fellowship with Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith in 2001, and contracted with the Canadian government through the non-profit Social Research Demonstration Corporation and CIRANO to do multi-million dollar experimental and field studies on attitudes toward risk. She also directed the experimental economics laboratory at CIRANO, a consortium of universities in Montreal. She worked as academic director for BASIS charter school system. At the University of Arizona, she has been Director of the Office for Economic Education. In the Economics Department, she taught Law & Economics, Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Experimental Economics, and Basic Principles. She now teaches Experimental Economics in the Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law program, directs the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Network, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Council for Economic Education.

Cheryl L. Matejka serves as Chief Financial Officer for Mercy Health head-quartered in St. Louis, Missouri. In this role, she oversees all finance functions related to Mercy hospitals and clinics. Prior to this role, Cheryl served as CFO for Mercy Health's East region, covering the St. Louis metropolitan and surrounding markets where she provided leadership oversight for financial reporting, operational and capital planning & analysis, decision support and various operational areas. Mercy Health is one of the largest integrated Catholic health systems with over $6 billion in revenues, 40 hospitals, 2,400 physicians and serves both large and small communities in 7 states. In 2020, Cheryl celebrated her 14th anniversary with Mercy and has over 30 years of experience in the non-profit health care field. Cheryl is a CPA, has a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, and an MBA from the Olin College of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2012, she was awarded the St. Louis Business Journal CFO of the year for non-profit organizations. Cheryl and her husband Terry reside in St. Charles, are actively involved in their local church and missions work and have two grown children.

Chris Smentkowski has enjoyed working in academic libraries for 20+ years. He has bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from Marshall University and an unfinished PhD in Philosophy with a focus on ethics and animal rights from Saint Louis University. Dr. Diane Moore - VP

Dr. Diane Moore is the vice president for operations and has been in her role since September of 2017. Dr. Moore oversees all campus operations including development and implementation of the procurement process, oversight of Public Safety, Facilities, Housekeeping and Grounds Departments in addition to mailroom, vending and food services. Prior to her current role, she had been assistant vice president for facilities. Dr. Moore has more than 20 years of dedicated experience in financial and facilities management in educational and government institutions. She was assistant superintendent and COO of Webster Groves School District as well as an adjunct instructor at Southwest Baptist University and Lindenwood University. She was an account executive at SMART, Inc., a role in which she consulted with school districts and hospitals to design and implement healthcare programs. While at SMART, INC., Dr. Moore developed fiscal studies and revenue projections for school districts to implement state and federal Medicaid programs. In addition to those roles, Moore worked in the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as the director of desegregation services and, later, assistant to the commissioner of education. Porter worked for 33 years for IBM, the last 15 in senior management, and has also served as a board member in higher education and as an adjunct instructor and visiting professor. Immediately prior to starting his current role, he served as vice president of services for a premier IBM Business Partner--Gulf Business Machines in Dubai. He has served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Evangel University, from which he holds a bachelor's degree, and also has experience as a university fundraiser. Gary N. Shaw is Senior Vice President/Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley. He has more than five decades of industry experience. He was named a President's Club member while at Dean Witter Reynolds (now Morgan Stanley) and earned membership on the Director's Advisory Council at E.F. Hutton (now part of Morgan Stanley). Grant Black is the assistant director of the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise and is a fellow in the Economic Education Center in Lindenwood's College of Education and Human Services. Prior to joining Lindenwood in 2018, Black directed the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Education and was a teaching professor of economics at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Prior to joining UMSL, he was an associate professor of economics at Indiana University South Bend. In 2002 he was visiting professor at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Dr. Black has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses, including introductory macroeconomics; introductory microeconomics; labor economics; energy; economics and the environment; and a survey of economics. His research focuses on the economics of science and innovation, local and regional economic issues, and economic education. He has contributed to research funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the National Science Foundation, the National Bureau of Economic Research, the South African Revenue Service, and the United States Agency for International Development. He is the author of the book, The Geography of Small Firm Innovation, and his research has been the focus of articles in diverse publications, including Economic Inquiry, Research Policy, Economic Development Quarterly, Science and Public Policy, and Growth and Change. Dr. Black served as a consultant to the Board on Science, Technology and Economic Policy at the National Academy of Sciences and participated in the Scientific Workforce Project sponsored by the National Bureau of Economic Research. Hal Gentry has over 35 years of experience in the software industry as a CEO and entrepreneur. He began his career as a software engineer for one of the leading providers of engineering analysis tools for the electric utility industry. He then founded and was CEO of two successful software businesses, GridLogix and Gentry Systems. After exiting GridLogix, Gentry was a Partner in Capital Innovators, SixThirty FinTech and Prosper venture funds that provided investment and accelerator programs for early stage tech companies. These funds have now invested globally in more than 200 tech companies. Gentry is currently Chairman of Denim Social, a St. Louis based social media management company for the banking and financial services industry. Harry H. (Chip) Peterson is an entrepreneur in Farmington, Mo., where he serves as president and vice-president of several small companies. He served as president of Farmington Development Company for 25 years, which has been the main developer of commercial property, as well as residential developments, in Farmington. He and his wife Debbie own Insight Partners Inc., which has operated as many as three Steak N Shakes in Missouri; Show-Me Cici's Pizza, Inc. and Q Loco, LLC, which he owns and operates as Cici's Pizza and Qdoba restaurants respectively; as well as office and retail ownership and management. Peterson is a graduate of the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he earned his BS in small business management. Peterson has served on the Board of Trustees of Lindenwood University for eight years. Previously, he served on the Strategic Planning, Mission, & Purpose Committee, as well as Interim Vice President of the Board. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Athletics Committee and Vice Chairman of the Board. Jennifer, who is originally from Hecker, Illinois came to St. Charles, Missouri in 2007 to attend Lindenwood University, where she was a member of the women's volleyball team. She earned both of her degrees at Lindenwood University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business in May of 2011 and of a Master of Arts degree in International Studies with an emphasis in Public Administration in July of 2012. After graduation, she returned to Lindenwood University in 2013 as an Admissions Counselor for the Office of Freshman Admissions. Born and raised in St. Charles, Scheidegger has been one of the key players in helping to make his hometown area both prosperous and compassionate. John W. Hammond

John W. Hammond is a retired entrepreneur who spent 23 years as president of G.W. Composites, Inc. in O'Fallon, Mo. Prior to that, he worked 12 years as a program manager of DC-10 flight simulators at McDonnell-Douglas. Hammond joined the Lindenwood University Board of Trustees in 1991, and for many years, he served as Treasurer. He played an integral role in Lindenwood's creation of the University Commons shopping center across from the St. Charles campus. In 2013, Mr. Hammond provided financial support to establish The Hammond Institute within the Plaster College of Business and Entrepreneurship. A Jefferson City, Mo., native, Hammond was chairman of the board of Frontenac Bank and currently is on the Board of Royal Bankshares. He is past president of Progress 64 West and remains active in that organization as well as Rotary. He and his wife, Barbara, live in Chesterfield.

Kelly Barns

Kelly Barns is the newest addition to the Office of Admissions and Services for International Students (OASIS). She is one of two International Recruiters and works with students whose last names begin with the letters A-K. A native of Granite City, IL, Kelly attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Kelly received a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Language and Literature for Spanish Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. After teaching Spanish for 4 years, Kelly returned to the classroom to pursue a Master of Science in Educational Administration. She continued to teach Spanish until she and her family moved to St. Charles, MO. New to the area, Kelly transitioned into higher education and began working at Lindenwood University as a freshman admissions counselor. Kelly Moyich is the Associate Vice President, Student Affairs, Community Equity, and Inclusion at Lindenwood University. Moyich comes to Lindenwood from the Circuit Attorney's Office for the City of St. Louis, where she served as an assistant circuit attorney in the armed offender unit. Her work in that role included evaluating and prosecuting homicides, assaults, and robberies along with extensive jury trial work. Prior to that, Moyich worked in the office of the 21st Judicial Circuit Clerk and as a public defender for the State of Missouri in the Clayton and City of St. Louis trial offices, where she handled all aspects of client representation, supervised 11 attorneys, and trained and directed new attorneys in all aspects of criminal procedure. Moyich earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri School of Law in May 2003. In 2000, she earned a Bachelor of Science in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

I am the project manager for the Library's internship program and enjoy helping students earn professional experience as they work toward graduation. I read a lot of audiobooks and have a goal each year to finish at least 50 books. I am a sports fan who follows baseball and hockey consistently. Orrie Covert has approximately 20 years of experience in higher education, the majority of which have been in senior leadership positions. Lindenwood University alumna Patricia Penkoske ('69) joined the Board of Trustees in 2012. She is a longtime critical care physician who remains involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Dr. Penkoske moved to St. Charles during her high school years and attended Lindenwood College when it was transitioning to coed. Summer jobs in a research lab exposed her to research and medicine. She graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in 1974. Further training included general surgery and cardiac surgery. Penkoske was a practicing pediatric cardiac surgeon, researcher, and residency program director for 16 years at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and for two years at Saint Louis University. In 2005, she joined the faculty at Washington University. The mother of three daughters, Penkoske lives in the Central West End and enjoys participation on several boards, sports, and travel.

Tawni Hunt Ferrarini, Ph.D., is the Director of the Economic Education Center. She joined Lindenwood University in August 2017 as the Robert W. Plaster Professor of Economic Education. She is a member of the economics faculty in the Plaster College of Business & Entrepreneurship (PCB&E), and a senior research fellow in the Hammond Institute for Free Enterprise. In addition to her duties as a PCB&E faculty member, Ferrarini's role is to work with the College of Education and Human Services to create programs at Lindenwood University for training educators to teach economics and financial literacy, and improve economics education statewide. Until 2017, Dr. Ferrarini held the only endowed professorship at Northern Michigan University as the Sam M. Cohodas Professor of Economics. She was the 2015 President of the National Association of Economic Educators. Her teaching, research and service focus on regional growth and development with special attention drawn to the role of private sector. Accolades include the 2016 Upper Peninsula Economic Development Non-profit Award, 2012 Council on Economic Education's Albert Beekhuis Center Award, 2010 Michigan Council on Economic Education Educator's Award, 2009 National Association of Economic Educator's Abbejean Kehler Technology Award (inaugural recipient), and a distinguished faculty award at NMU in 2009. Currently. Tawni serves as the distinguished professor of economics education at the Council on Economic Education - Japan, a senior fellow at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy in Midland, MI and the Fraser Institute, Vancouver, Canada. She is a co-author of Common Sense Economics: What Everyone Should Know About Wealth and Prosperity. Tawni also publishes scholarly works in journals. Yoshi Nakamoto became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Counsel for Economic Education (CEE)-Japan in 2007 while serving consecutively, as Corporate Advisor to Junior Achievement (JA). He serves as an official committee member of the Japanese Government's Central Education Committee. Certified as a lecturer by The Ministry of Education, Yoshi is an active instructor for the National Center for Teacher Training, Yoshi's experience includes time as President and Chief Operating Officer for JA Japan; a position that is certified by the government as a Public-interest Incorporated Association. He launched the Japan Council on Economic Education and signed a memorandum of understanding for partnership operations, with the National Council on Economic Education. Yoshi entered the educational sector in attempt to introduce experience-based teaching methods, into the Japanese society. He obtained the international affiliate license from Junior Achievement Worldwide and invested his personal money to launch Junior Achievement Japan from scratch.
