When Dr. Michael Gibbons joined Midwest Orthopaedic Center, he brought several firsts with him. As a sports medicine specialist with a focus on knee and shoulder conditions, he was one of the first surgeons in the area to perform a meniscus repair procedure, and he was also the first to do a meniscus transplantation and an autologous chondrocyte implantation -- necessary operations when treating damaged knee cartilage. For Dr. Gibbons, practicing medicine and surgery at Midwest Orthopaedic Center was an easy decision. Not only does he fully trust his medical partners, he's found a group of health care professionals as collaborative and committed as the sports teams for which he's played. In fact, it's his athletic experience that's made him ideally qualified to treat sports-related injuries as well as knee and shoulder issues. He knows what it's like to be an athlete as well as the parent and spouse of one. To Dr. Gibbons, Midwest Orthopaedic Center is a family affair - his wife and kids have all been treated by his fellow doctors. And now, his son is a medical student training to become an orthopaedic surgeon while his daughter is a clinical dietitian at UnityPoint Health - Methodist. These days, Dr. Gibbons still practices what he preaches, recently completing three full-length marathons. Dr. Chukwunenye Osuji

Dr. Chukwunenye Osuji first came to Midwest Orthopaedic Center in 2011. Its reputation for delivering excellence in orthopaedic care is what inspired him to make this practice his professional home.
