AUSTINSINGERS

The Austin Singers was founded in the fall of 1995 under the direction of Lanier Bayliss. Artistic directors have included Louise Avant, Ara Carapetyan, Dwight Bigler, Timothy Workman, and Jimmy Shepherd. Beginning in August 2011, the chorus is under the creative direction of Joshua T Miller... This volunteer ensemble rehearses weekly and typically presents three concerts per season. Members include school and church choir directors, degreed musicians, and novice amateurs. Some have only sung with a community chorus for a short while, but at least two have sung in choirs for more than 50 years. We are school teachers, college professors, psychologists, computer programmers, state workers, and attorneys. We all volunteer our time and pay dues to support the organization. We sing because we love choral music.
