BREWING CHEMIST

I'm Matt. I'm a 29 year old Organic Chemist and am pretty much obsessed with all things food and alcohol. I started home brewing in 2008 while in grad school at Florida State University and working on my Masters degree. I was a poor graduate student who really liked craft beer but couldn't afford it, so I decided to make it myself. This frugal brewing only lasted through grad school. Now I have to set a yearly brewing equipment budget to keep myself from turning the garage into a gleaming stainless steel packed automated nano-brewery... The other part of this little obsession is food. I started seriously cooking in grad school, again out of the necessity of loving really good food and not being able to afford eating out at nice restaurants all the time. Again this frugality ended with grad school, although I only eat out a couple times a month so I can justify going a little more upscale.
