CIRCLE PETROLEUM CORPORATION

In February 1927, Sormir Petroleum completed a discovery well southeast of Rock Springs near the Colorado/Wyoming state line, in what would become the prolific East Hiawatha field. The East and West Hiawatha gas fields, located in Vermilion Creek basin and on the state line between southwest Wyoming and northwest Colorado, were of commercial importance at this time in history, as the field terminus of the gas pipe-line system supplying Salt Lake City and adjacent towns with natural gas.
