Adam Spray

Adam Spray read Geography at the University of Leeds. He later converted to law and was awarded a distinction in the Legal Practice Course at BPP University, London. He joined Wilsons in 2013 initially as a caseworker in the immigration department. He then undertook a training contract and worked in the immigration, family, and criminal departments. He qualified as a solicitor in 2016 and decided to specialise in immigration law. He worked in our immigration department as a junior solicitor before leaving in late 2018 to work as a legal manager for the charity Bail for Immigration Detention (BID). In 2022 Adam returned to work at Wilsons as an Associate Solicitor in the immigration department. Adam specialises in all aspects of immigration law with a particular interest in personal immigration and asylum. Adam has extensive voluntary experience having given time to the charities Micro-Rainbow, Body and Soul and The South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre.

Afshar Adam

Afshar completed his academic legal training in 2011 and joined the immigration department at Wilsons in 2019. He was admitted as a solicitor in November 2022. Prior to joining Wilsons, Afshar was part of the legal team which represented 150 vulnerable claimants in a complex high court group litigation against all of the UK's major construction companies, and which resulted in a £9 million settlement for the claimants and a full public apology by the construction companies for secretly vetting construction workers over a 40 year period. Afshar also assisted in a landmark Employment Appeals Tribunal case pertaining to caste discrimination and the Equality Act, and a pro bono case in which 35 low paid Spanish-speaking cleaners on zero hour contracts obtained £40,000 in unpaid wages from a global advertising agency. Afshar has volunteered with the Anti Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit where he assisted ATLEU lawyers in representing victims of trafficking in publically funded immigration, asylum, housing and compensation matters. He currently volunteers with the Body and Soul charity and its free legal advice clinic. Afshar is a dedicated professional. He works across all areas of immigration and asylum law including family migration and reunion, representing asylum seekers, business migration, settlement and citizenship. Aisling Ni Chuinn

Aisling has been a supervisor at Wilsons since 2013 and qualified as a solicitor in 2015 having trained in immigration and public law. In 2016 Aisling was admitted as a level 3 member of the Law Society's Immigration and Asylum Law Advanced Accreditation Scheme. Aisling is an experienced specialist in immigration, asylum and human rights law. She has worked extensively with vulnerable adults, including victims of torture and victims of trafficking. Her main interest is in assisting detained clients with asylum claims and associated judicial review claims.

Alaa Ahmed

Alaa studied law at SOAS University of London and was awarded an LLB Hons in 2016. She also holds a Master of Laws in Human Rights, Justice and Conflict from SOAS and was awarded a distinction in 2018 for her thesis titled "The fate of contemporary British citizenship: an analysis of citizenship deprivation powers in relation to statelessness and human rights in the UK". Alaa joined us in 2019, initially in our administration team. She became a caseworker in our immigration team in 2020 and a Trainee Solicitor in 2022. She is registered as a Senior Caseworker with the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme. Before joining us Alaa worked for humanitarian NGO Crisis Action as a research assistant and led on a campaign in response to the 2019 protests in Sudan. Alongside this role Alaa volunteered at Liberty as an Advice and Information volunteer. Alaa has also worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Lebanon as well as volunteering at Camden Community Law Centre and the Bar Pro Bono Unit. Amelia Meldau

Amelia graduated from the University of Leeds in 2014 with a degree in Philosophy, History and Philosophy of Science. She completed a law conversion at BPP University in 2017 and a qualifying Master of Laws at the University of Law in 2018, achieving a distinction. Alongside her studies, Amelia undertook a number of voluntary activities and employment in the legal sector. She spent two years as a Legal Advisor at Leeds City Centre Citizen's Advice Bureau where she advised vulnerable clients on housing, debt, employment and benefits. She has completed internships at both the Public Law Project and Advocates for International Development. Amelia joined the immigration department at Wilson Solicitors LLP in 2018. She provides advice and assistance in a wide range of immigration, asylum and human rights cases. Prior to joining Wilson Solicitors LLP, Amelia undertook employment at two high street firms, working on private immigration and asylum cases. Interests: Music, Philosophy and Arsenal FC.

Amna Khaliq

Amna Khaliq joined Wilsons in 2001. She qualified as a solicitor in 2005, and was admitted to the Law Society's Advanced Family Panel in 2012. She was made a partner in 2015. Amna undertakes private and legal aid work. Her practice and extensive knowledge includes representation in divorce and financial matters, injunction proceedings and child arrangement matters. Amna deals with complex international children cases and became accredited to The International Child Abduction and Contact Unit (ICACU) in 2016, where she is regularly instructed through ICACU in complex international matters involving Hague Convention cases concerning child abduction, the registration and enforcement of Orders made in jurisdictions which are signatories to B II A as well as applications under Article 21 of the Hague Convention. Amna receives instructions from the ICACU to act for a parent when their child has been abducted into the UK. She is also instructed directly by parents in both Hague and non-Hague convention international family matters and regularly acts in Wardship proceedings. She has represented parents at the High Court and has successfully prevented removal and secured the return of children to the UK. She is very familiar with emergency procedures and dealing with the Tipstaff - the officer at the High Court responsible for enforcing court orders. Amna is the head of the surrogacy and adoption team and is assisting in developing Wilsons growing practice for alternative families, advising on co-parenting arrangements and surrogacy. Amna advises in respect of legal issues arising from the creation and implementation of surrogacy arrangements and The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 and has successfully issued proceedings and obtained parental orders for clients. She is able to advise on all aspects of adoption matters; including those with an international element, where she is able to work collaboratively with our immigration team. She represents parents and grandparents in care proceedings, including cases with an international element, female genital mutilation, child trafficking, sexual abuse and non-accidental injuries. Amna has been admitted to the Child Abduction and Contact Units referral list and Amna has also been accredited to the Law Society Family Law Panel since 2011, and the Advanced Family Law Panel since 2012 in the areas of child abduction and violence in the home. Amy Yates

Amy studied Law at London South Bank University and graduated in 2021 with a first-class honours degree. She then studied the Legal Practice Course with an integrated Masters in Professional Legal Practice online with the University of Law and graduated in 2022. Whilst Amy was studying her Law degree, she founded and ran the University's Debating Society which was awarded Society of the Year at the South Bank Students' Union Awards 2021. Amy also volunteered at the University's Legal Advice Clinic as a Legal Adviser. Amy joined Wilsons in June 2022 in the Family Law Department as a Caseworker and became a Trainee Solicitor in January 2023. Prior to joining Wilsons, Amy worked as a Paralegal at the National Centre for Domestic Violence. She assisted clients in obtaining protective injunctions. Amy is passionate about working with victims of abuse and learning about the effects that an abusive household can have on children.

Ana Gonzalez

Ana Gonzalez was born in Spain and graduated in Employment Law at the University of A Coruña. She moved to the UK in 1994, qualifying as a solicitor in 2003. Ana became a partner in 2010. Having trained in asylum, nationality and public law, she now practises in immigration and asylum work, and has interests in human rights and European Law. Ana is an internationally recognised expert in gender and sexuality-based asylum claims as well as having extensive expertise in representing individuals from vulnerable, marginalised client groups such as victims of human trafficking, apostates and transgender individuals. Ana is frequently instructed by Local Authorities all over the Greater London area to act for children and adults in their care. Ana is praised in Chambers and Partners for her "constant attention to cases, leading client care and real knowledge of the law." She "continues to stand out for significant work on human trafficking cases, often raising new country guidance points" (2012). "She is a stand-out practitioner in the field of refugee law, with particular expertise in trafficking cases" (2014). She "is very experienced, passionate and has very good judgement" (2016). Anais Crane

Anais studied English Literature at Queen Mary University of London. She joined Wilsons in January 2022 as a caseworker in the immigration department. She became accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society Immigration and Asylum accreditation scheme in August 2022. Anais is interested in all aspects of immigration law. Recently she has spent much of her time working on our Ukraine Advice Project in partnership with the charity Here for Good. While studying for her degree, Anais volunteered at Shpresa, where she supported young people from Albania to navigate the asylum system. She also volunteered with the Migrant and Child Refugee Legal Unit (MiCLU) at Islington Law Centre, working primarily on the Breaking the Chains and Kids in Need of Defence projects. Andrew Jones

Andrew Jones graduated with a 1st class degree in Photographic Studies at the University of Derby and went on to do postgraduate research in the same subject. He joined Wilsons as a senior immigration caseworker in 2011 and qualified as a solicitor in 2015. Andrew specialises in immigration, asylum and human rights law and represents both private and legally aided clients. He has a particular interest in criminal deportation cases and has extensive experience of working with vulnerable adults, including those with serious mental and physical health issues. Anu-Oluwa Christos-Wahab

Anu studied Law at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 2020. She then completed her Legal Practice Course at the University of Westminster in 2022. Whilst studying at the University of Liverpool, Anu volunteered at the Liverpool Law Clinic assisting on the Family Reunion project. During her time at university, Anu shadowed a Partner in the Family Law Department at Morecroft Solicitors. Anu joined Wilsons in May 2022 in the Family Law Department as a caseworker. Becky Cutler-Methven

Becky studied Politics and International Relations at Lancaster University, before converting to Law with the GDL at BPP University in 2015. She then completed the Legal Practice Course at the London Metropolitan University in 2017. She joined Wilsons in 2014 and became an immigration caseworker in 2016. Becky became a trainee in November 2017 and qualified as a Solicitor in November 2019, in addition to being a Senior IAAS Caseworker and Supervisor. She has trained in asylum, nationality and public law and now predominantly practices immigration and asylum law. She has an interest in Human Rights and nationality law as well as sexuality and apostasy based asylum claims. She also has experience in complex business immigration applications, as well as Appendix FM matters (for example relating to fiancé visas/spouse and durable partner applications and applications for children) both in country and as entry clearance applications. She has worked on cases before the First Tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal and Court of Appeal. Daniel Merriman

Daniel studied International History and International Politics at the University of Sheffield and graduated with first class honours, having specialised in 20 th Century decolonisation. Following completion of his Graduate Diploma in Law, Daniel joined Wilsons as a caseworker in December 2013. He completed the Legal Practice Course LLM at the University of Law in the summer of 2015, achieving a Distinction. Daniel has been part of our Immigration team since 2015 and qualified as a solicitor in July 2018. Daniel specialises in complex Asylum and Human Rights Appeal and Judicial Review work, whilst maintaining a private practice with clients based all over the world. He has extensive experience in Nationality, Refugee Family Reunion, Appendix FM, EU Settlement Scheme, Skilled Worker licence cases, whilst also representing clients in Entry Clearance and in-country applications and appeals outside the Immigration Rules based on Article 3 and 8 ECHR considerations. Daniel deals proficiently with high profile, fast-paced cutting-edge litigation and working within a team of lawyers to achieve the best results for his clients. In 2022, Daniel obtained a Rule 39 Indication for a client threatened with removal to Rwanda on 14 June 2022 from the European Court of Human Rights in an urgent case of imminent risk of irreparable damage, which made national news. Darren Greene

Darren qualified as a solicitor in 2012. Prior to working at Wilsons, Darren developed experience in family, housing, wills & probate as well as civil litigation cases. Whilst working in cases in a number of different areas, Darren became passionate about working in family law including care proceedings and decided to specialise in this area. On some occasions, family cases may involve other issues and Darren is able to use his knowledge in other areas to refer clients to agencies who may assist. Darren has grown to love the rigours and challenges of working in care cases, in particular, assisting parents to receive the support they need throughout their case. Diana Reyes Rafael

Dilan Kirdag

Prior to joining Wilsons, alongside her studies, Dilan volunteered at two high street law firm's immigration department for two years. During her final year at law school, Dilan was chosen for the Probono Training module and as part of this programme she volunteered at Advising Communities Charity's head office in their Housing department as a Housing Support Officer. She spent her time at the charity shadowing vulnerable refugees who were homeless. She worked with her supervisor to provide housing from the Local Authorities to these individuals. She also volunteered at Southwark Jobcentre as a Client Support Officer and Marie Curie charity. Dilan joined Wilsons as an immigration caseworker in 2019. She provides advice and assistance in a wide range of immigration and asylum cases and is especially interested in family reunion, asylum and deportation. Elena Marquez

Elena was awarded a degree in Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Malaga, and qualified as a Spanish Lawyer in 2013. She moved to the UK in 2016 and completed an LLM in English Law at Kingston University in 2018. Her postgraduate dissertation focused on the negative effects of globalisation on developing countries. Elena then worked for several months as a caseworker in London for Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID) a charity assisting migrant detainees to help secure their release from prisons or removal centres. Elena joined us in 2019, initially in our administration team. She became a caseworker in our immigration team in 2020 and became a Senior Caseworker in 2021. She is registered with the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme. She has an active asylum and human rights caseload and undertakes both legally aided and privately funded work. Elena has a particular interest in acting for vulnerable clients including people with learning disabilities, trauma or mental health problems, and victims of trafficking, domestic violence and torture. Emma Terenius

Emma graduated from Stockholm University with a BA degree in Political Science. She later converted to law with distinction at the University of Law. She joined Wilsons as a Level 2 Immigration Caseworker in July 2014. She has been a supervisor in the firm since October 2014 and qualified as a solicitor in 2017 having completed training seats in our Immigration and Public Law departments. Before joining Wilsons, Emma worked in Sarah Teather MP's office where she assisted constituents with immigration issues. She spent three years as a Senior Caseworker at Refugee and Migrant Justice (formerly Refugee Legal Centre), preparing and presenting asylum appeals. She was thereafter at Asylum Aid for around three years and became the specialist children's caseworker. Emma has also volunteered for Detention Action. Emma has been working in immigration and asylum law since 2007. She has a particular interest in representing former victims of human trafficking and unaccompanied asylum seeking children. Emma represented the Appellant in the legally important case TG (Interaction of Directives and Rules) [2016] UKUT 00374 (IAC) which determined that the interpretation of paragraph 334 of the Immigration Rules is subject to the EU Qualification and Procedures Directives. Emma represented the claimant in the case of R (Hafeez) v SSHD [2020] EWHC 437 (Admin). This was a successful challenge to the SSHD's application of the certification power in Regulation 33 of the Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2016. Eoin Lewis

Eoin graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Biological Sciences. He went on to study for an MA in International Security and Conflict Studies before taking an internship with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tbilisi, Georgia. He joined Wilsons as a trainee caseworker in October 2022 after being awarded a Distinction in the LPC from the University of Law. Prior to joining Wilsons, he worked for the Community Advice and Law Service in Leicester where he specialised in social welfare and benefits advice. He has also spent time volunteering for City of Sanctuary, a Leicester-based charity that supports refugees with fresh asylum claims, and as a global policy reporter for the International Women's Institute. Eoin has experience in supporting vulnerable clients, such as victims of domestic violence, victims of torture and those with complex mental health illness. He is passionate about ensuring people feel safe and welcome in their community. Interests: Leicester City, music and food.

Felicity Jones

Felicity graduated from Cardiff University with a First Class Honours degree in Law and Criminology in 2013. She then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at De Montfort University, Leicester, graduating in 2014 with Distinction. Felicity joined Wilsons in 2014 and qualified as a solicitor in July 2018, specialising in family law. Felicity has a wide range of experience in both private and public law family matters and working for both legally aided and privately paying clients. Felicity regularly attends Child Protection Conferences and has represented clients at Court seeking injunctions for the protection of victims of domestic violence and in relation to disputes over where a child should live and who they should spend time with.

Gabriel Tan

Gabriel studied for his Law LLB at Durham University, graduating in 2020 with First Class Honours and the Sullivan & Cromwell Prize. Georgia Lee

Georgia was a volunteer visitor for Detention Action, providing practical advice to those in detention. She also volunteered with the Refugee Council as part of their Refugee Advice Project. She worked with individuals who had recently been granted refugee status and supported them in obtaining housing and other essential services. Georgia joined the immigration department at Wilsons in 2018 as a caseworker and she soon became accredited as a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme. She undertook her training contract at Wilson Solicitors and qualified as a solicitor in November 2021. She provides advice and assistance in a range of asylum and immigration matters. She undertakes both legal aid and privately funded work. Interests: food and fiction.

Giulietta Grassi

Giulietta studied Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2016. During her time in Manchester, Giulietta was involved in the project ‘Voices for Syria' with Syria Relief, focused on raising awareness around the Syrian Civil War. Giulietta was a volunteer caseworker at Bail for Immigration Detainees, working to challenge immigration detention in the UK. She worked on the Separated Families Project, providing legal advice and support with bail applications to adults in immigration detention, separated from their children. Giulietta joined Wilsons as an immigration caseworker in 2018. Prior to joining Wilsons, Giulietta worked as a support worker for young unaccompanied asylum seekers in semi-independent housing in Croydon and Surrey. This involved providing support and advocacy with immigration matters, accommodation, local authority care, education and personal wellbeing. Giulietta supported 9 young people between the ages of 18-21 in their transition into adulthood. She is passionate about empowering young people to be able to self-advocate and make their voices heard. Interests: running, baking and hip hop music

Hannah Ibrahim

Hannah studied LLB Law with Criminology at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2020. She then completed her LLM Legal Practice Course at BPP University in 2021. Whilst at University, Hannah was President of the Pro Bono Society. She established affiliations with schools and charities in Manchester to aid and empower them through the provision of free legal advice. She also volunteered at the award-winning Justice Hub, for which she won the Dinah Crystal OBE Award 2020, in the name of the Justice Hub's founder, for her dedication to promoting access to justice. Prior to joining Wilsons, Hannah worked in a private immigration law firm where she mostly acted on human rights-based immigration issues, often triggering Article 8 arguments. She also worked on British citizenship and nationality cases. She then volunteered at the Anti Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit (ATLEU) for six months, where she worked alongside Julian Bild in safeguarding the rights of victims of trafficking and made various complex immigration applications under legal aid provisions. Hannah joined Wilsons as an Immigration Caseworker in October 2022. Working with Ana Gonzalez and her team, Hannah is providing assistance on a wide range of complex immigration and asylum matters, both legally aided and privately funded. Hannah is passionate about upholding the rights of migrants and breaking the barriers preventing people from accessing the justice they rightly deserve. Interests: Walking and exploring London's many boroughs, cooking, fitness (by way of Joe Wicks videos) and socialising.

Harry Clayton

Harry studied History at the University of Leeds, graduating in 2016. He joined Wilsons in 2018 and became a caseworker in the Family Department in August 2019. Harry completed the GDL in 2020 and achieved a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course in 2022. He was admitted as a solicitor in November 2022. Harry trained exclusively in the family department and is experienced in a wide variety of family law issues. Harry enjoys advising clients in relation to private law children work, public law children work for parents, divorce/ financial remedies, and Family Law Injunctions. He has a particular interest in Children Act work, especially representing parents in care proceedings. He has worked on complex cases involving allegations of non-accidental injuries and cases where the Official Solicitor has instructed our firm. Harry has experience of working with clients with mental health conditions and learning difficulties. He thinks it is important to build positive working relationships with clients to help secure beneficial outcomes for their children. Harry also enjoys financial remedy work and has experience of cases involving substantial assets and lower income and asset cases. Harry is committed to working with clients to try to ensure that amicable agreements can be reached between parties. He is a member of Resolution and will always aim to ensure a conciliatory approach to resolving all family disputes. Prior to joining Wilsons, Harry volunteered with the Human Rights Organisation Liberty. He also volunteered at his local Citizens Advice Bureau. Hester Hill

She has previously volunteered with Citizens Advice, working as a generalist advisor.
