Alex Sergeant BVSc

Alex qualified from the University of Bristol in 1996. Her first job was at Stable Close Veterinary Clinic and, following a period working at an equine hospital in Berkshire, she returned to Winchester in 2003 to found Stable Close Equine Practice. Her main interest is in sports medicine and poor performance. She is also a qualified BHS assistant instructor and has competed at British Eventing one-day and three-day events up to intermediate level. Alex is married to Rob and they have three children.

Dani Georges

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Dani Georges graduated from the University of Bristol in 2022. She started her career working in an equine hospital in Northamptonshire then joined Stable Close Equine practice in September 2023. Dani enjoys all equine ambulatory work but has a particular interest in internal medicine. Outside work Dani enjoys spending time by the sea with her Golden Retrievers Amber and Holly and she enjoys the challenge and adrenaline of going bouldering.

Ellie Zajicek

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Ellie qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2015 and since then has worked in equine practices in Devon, Cambridge, New Zealand, Glasgow and more recently Jersey. Her interests include pain management and complementary therapy, dentistry and all aspects of emergency medicine. She has a springer spaniel called Hamble and in their free time they enjoy exploring the Hampshire countryside and the local wild swimming spots.

Izzy Parker

Job Titles:
  • Medical Receptionist
Izzy is an experienced medical receptionist and has decided to combine her experience in this field with her love for horses to work in our equine office. Izzy owns her own horse and works part time at the Candover Stud handling their broodmares and foals.

Jayne Bonner

Job Titles:
  • Office Manager
Jayne Bonner leads the office team as our Office Manager. She has experience in financial administration, medical insurance and has a special interest in equine facilitated interaction and cognitative therapy. She lives locally with her family alongside which she has 2 horses: Dinky a mini shetland whom she drives and a homebred Caspian foal. Jayne also has one rescue dog called Lola.

Jo Hopwood

Jo has a diploma in horse management and has trained in equine and business studies as well as attaining her BHS stage I and II levels. Jo was a long standing client of the practice for many years before sadly losing her retired pony William.

Kirsty Barnard

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
After graduating from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2010 Kirsty completed her internship at Onderstepoort Equine Hospital. She then spent four years in equine practice in Johannesburg before moving to the UK in 2015. She has worked in equine ambulatory and hospital based practice in Surrey and West Sussex and is also an experienced racecourse vet. Kirsty enjoys being outdoors, she loves walking her dog and trail running.

Lauren Savage

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Lauren joined our vet team earlier in 2022. After first graduating in Bioveterinary Science she then enrolled as a post graduate at the Royal Veterinary College graduating with distinction this year. She has a dedicated interest in equine practice and when she is not treating horses she is often seen out walking with her labrador puppy Rook.

Louise Withers

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Louise Withers joined us part time several years ago as the practice expanded. She is an experienced clinician who has worked in all aspects of equine practice. In the past Louise has owned her own horses and competed in various disciplines before hanging up her boots to concentrate on her veterinary career and subsequently raising her young family.

Malcolm Morley

Job Titles:
  • Clinical Director & Veterinary Surgeon
Malcolm Morley qualified from the University of Bristol in 1993. He started his career at the Liphook Equine Hospital and has also worked in Lambourn and Australia. He was a joint founder of Stable Close Equine Practice in 2003 and his main interest is pre-purchase examination. Malcolm is married to Poppy, a hospital doctor, and they have three children. He has been a council member of the British Equine Veterinary Association, chairing their Pre-Purchase Examination Committee.

Rebecca Fellows

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Rebecca worked in two Equine hospitals in Australia where she completed an internship in medicine, surgery and reproduction before returning to work at the Liphook Equine Hospital in August 2018. She has a strong interest in foal medicine. When she is not at work she enjoys helping with the sheep and cattle on the farm where she lives. She is also a committed Long Course Triathlete and enjoys participating in Ironman Triathlon events in her free time.

Sue Grace

Sue has been with Stable Close Equine since 2008 and is responsible for drug ordering. She has worked with horses and ponies for many years as well as in a local doctors' surgery. Sue has a small flock of Jacob ewes and is often in the office with Ruby, her labrador x spaniel.

Tanya Lane

Tanya joined Stable Close Equine in April 2018 and has taken over the main responsibilty of insurance claims. Tanya owns one horse, Cruz who she regularly takes out to competitions and fun rides. She also owns a German Shepherd, Nico.

Vicky Jux

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Vicky joined Stable Close Equine Practice in 2014. After completing an internship at the Royal Veterinary College Equine Referral Hospital, Vicky worked on projects with the RSPCA and BHS before returning to the RVC's Diagnostic Imaging Department. Vicky has also enjoyed being part of the Veterinary Teams at The Olympia London International Horse Show and Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials.
