Your pets have been the object of your affection since the day you brought little Buster or Tigger home. My best friends-Basil and Brewster-have been with me longer than I've been with my husband. So when I got pregnant, my husband and I knew we had to find ways to help our new child and our pets get along. We got a few books on parenting and pets before our little tyke was born, but we really weren't prepared for actually getting our pets to welcome and love our child. Pets can be jealous and territorial; a baby can be bewildering and disorienting. But through patience and trial and error, eventually Basil and Brewster came to accept our tyke as one of their own.
