One of our driving purposes is to address social challenges through innovation. In 2019, Sunway rose as the first or private? conglomerate in Malaysia to finance the installation of a total of eight rice ATMs nationwide. As its name implies, these automated teller machines are tech-based solutions designed to efficiently dispense rice in a stipulated amount and, with a dedicated compartment, to collect cash donation from the public. The latter generates funds for the replenishment of rice supply, ensuring the longevity of this initiative. Identified by RFID cards, eligible recipients can redeem 2kg of rice every first and third Friday of the month continuously. Since 2019, this initiative has benefitted close to 5,000 beneficiaries.
