Iowa Junior High Rodeo is a division of the Iowa High School Rodeo Association developed in 2005. Membership is open to students in 5th-8th grade throughout the entire year. Our year runs from August to May. Rodeo events for girls include goat tying, breakaway, ribbon roping (must have a boy partner), team roping, barrel racing and pole bending. Rodeo events for boys include goat tying, breakaway, tiedown calf roping, ribbon roping (must have a girl partner) team roping, chute dogging and bull riding. Contestants compete for points throughout the season with the top 4 point earners in each event qualifying to represent Iowa at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo.
