Ken's clients included the Tennessee Valley Authority, Oak Ridge National Laboratories and Whittle Communications. Ken also spent a number of years teaching Studio Art and Art History in private schools including The Woodberry Forest School, in Woodberry Forest, Virginia and St. George's School in Newport, Rhode Island. Ken finally put his interests together directing electronic marketing for Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. At Sewanee Ken was part of the collaborative administrative group that defined and implemented the school's first integrated marketing plan. As a result of the coordinated marketing efforts both the undergraduate college and the graduate school attracted record numbers of applicants while also planning for and executing a multi-million dollar capital campaign. Specifically on the web Ken designed and built an integrated information architecture and branding identity that facilitated the goals of the all of the university's disparate marketing initiatives. The entire enterprise was supported by a comprehensive content management initiative that emphasized template based uniform visual branding and usability while turning content editing over to the knowledge workers most connected to the content at any given time. From the earliest days of the web Ken has been a staunch advocate of web standards as well as a consistent proponent of strategic decision-making based on issues of accessibility and analytic feedback. He writes his html by hand but he no longer uses an abacus to do data analysis. Ken is also a proponent of good documentation, insisting that clients document early and often to save heartache later in the development life cycle. Most recently Ken was the project manager for a multi-national web services project that sought to build a subscription based, Internet centered framework for institutional resource planning. The project, currently under non-disclosure, is undergoing quality assurance testing and will be released in 2009. When not on his laptop Ken races bicycles, nordic skis when he can, looks for parts for his aging Saab and worries that his kids will find out he is a geek.
