Anthony J. Cicconi

Tony has over 25 years of litigation experience involving workers' compensation, social security disability, long term disability claims, insurance issues, and accident claims. He graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the West Virginia Law Review. Tony's workers' compensation practice covers all of West Virginia and his Social Security disability practice extends throughout West Virginia and into the surrounding states. He is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits. Tony is located in the firm's Charleston office but is available for consultations at either of the firm's locations.

CHARLES S. PICCIRILLO

Attorney Piccirillo has more than 30 years of trial experience, resulting in Charlie's unique skill in complex insurance and commercial issues, including bad faith, insurance coverage issues, toxic torts, and litigation of serious accident claims. He is frequently called upon by the legal community statewide to mediate the most complex and difficult cases. He is located in the firm's Madison, West Virginia office.

Harry G. Shaffer, III

Harry "Chip" Shaffer, III has over 30 years of trial experience in cases ranging from insurance claims, automobile accidents, coal mining accidents, and toxic torts, to real estate, coal, oil, gas and timber matters, and general business litigation. Chip received his B.S. from West Virginia University College of Business and Economics and graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1981, where he was a member of the West Virginia Law Review. He is a charter member and past President of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. He is also a Member of the West Virginia State Bar and a member and Past President of the Boone County Bar Association. Chip is a member of the Boards of the Boone County Bank, Charleston Area Alliance, Charleston Chamber of Commerce, Alderson Broaddus College, Boone Holding Company, Little Coal Land Company and the Boone County Community Foundation, Inc. He is a Member and Past President of the West Virginia University Alumni Association, Boone County WVU Alumni and Friends and the Madison Rotary Club. Chip has long been active in his church and the Boy Scouts of America, Buckskin Council. He is located in the firm's Madison, West Virginia office.

J. Alexander Meade

Alex joined Shaffer & Shaffer, PLLC, in 2018, and represents clients in a wide variety of practice areas. Primarily, his practice is focused on personal injury claims, actions concerning civil rights violations pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), real estate transactions, and estate planning. In addition to these areas, Alex also maintains an indigent defense practice representing both adults and children in criminal matters and child abuse and neglect actions. Alex is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Alex received his B.A. in English Literature from the West Virginia University Eberly College of Arts and Sciences and graduated Order of Barristers from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2016. While in school, he served as a student-attorney for the West Virginia Innocence Project and as a Justice for the West Virginia University College of Law Moot Court. Alex is located at Shaffer & Shaffer's Madison office, but is available for consultation at either of the firm's locations.

Jeffrey S. Burgess

Jeff has over 25 years of trial experience dealing with automobile accidents, construction claims, and other insurance coverage claims and bad faith litigation issues. He is a graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelors degree in Finance and received his J.D. degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. Jeff is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is from Barboursville, West Virginia and is based in the firm's Charleston office.

Richard W. Walters

Rich represents individuals, private corporations, nonprofit companies, and government agencies in all facets of labor and employment law. His areas of representation include, but are not limited to, matters involving Wage and Hour law, wrongful termination, the West Virginia Human Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, NLRB, employment contracts, employee guidelines, and sexual harassment. He lectures regularly on a variety of employment matters. Rich received his B.A. degree from the University of Charleston, his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and a Masters in Public Administration from the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Administration. He has been admitted to practice in West Virginia and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia since 1995 and is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Rich is also the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Nitro, West Virginia where he has served since 2010.

Sabrena Olive Gillis

Sabrena is an experienced trial lawyer, whose practice focuses on insurance bad faith, insurance coverage issues, automobile accidents, and construction claims. She received her B.A. from Marshall University and earned her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law where she was a member of the Moot Court Board. Sabrena is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. She is located in the firm's Charleston, West Virginia office.

Todd A. Mount

Todd is an experienced trial lawyer, whose practice primarily focuses on automobile accidents, personal injury litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and employment law litigation. Todd received his B.A. from West Virginia University and earned his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. Todd is President of the Boone County Bar Association, a past member of the Board of Governors of the West Virginia State Bar and a member of the Board of Governors of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. He is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation and is President of the Boone County Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association. Todd lives in Charleston, West Virginia, with his wife, Denise Workman.
