Vinay Chaudhry, MBBS, MD, is the James F. Howard Distinguished Professor of Neuromuscular Disease and chief of the UNC Division of Neuromuscular Disorders. He also serves as vice chair of faculty affairs for the UNC Department of Neurology. Dr. Chaudhry received his medical degree from the All-India Institute of Medical Services in New Delhi, India. He completed his residency in neurology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. Dr. Chaudhry also completed clinical and research fellowships in neuromuscular diseases, along with an executive MBA, from Johns Hopkins University. He is board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, electrodiagnostic medicine, and neuromuscular medicine.
James F. Howard, Jr., MD (partial retirement) is the former James F. Howard Distinguished Professor of Neuromuscular Disease. He currently serves as a professor of neurology, medicine and allied health, and currently runs the Myasthenia Gravis Translational and Clinical Trials Research Program. Dr. Howard received his neurological training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and completed his fellowship in neuromuscular-EMG at the same institution. He has an international reputation in myasthenia gravis and quantitative EMG techniques. Dr. Howard is board certified in neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM), and is a current member of the American Neurological Association, American Academy of Neurology, and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Howard is also an adjunct professor of clinical sciences (neurology) at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Senyene Hunter MD, PhD, a physician-scientist, is co-founder of the Epilepsy Neurogenetics Initiative (ENGI). As the Research Core leader, Dr. Hunter partners with research collaborators and basic scientists to study best practices and guide future implementation of genomic technologies. The Research Core basic science collaborations aim to improve the understanding of cellular, molecular and nervous system function underlying epilepsy genetics and identify pathogenic gene variants and candidate risk genes.
In addition, the Research Core aims to provide patients with state-of-the-art care by improving patient access to clinical trials and translational research, connecting families to local, regional and national studies, and linking patients to genetic-specific treatment clinical trials.

The Genetic testing coordinator aims to assure standardized, efficient, patient-centered testing while providing patients access to cutting-edge molecular testing and laboratory resources. Evaluations are tailored to individual patient's needs, and testing is personalized to the patient in the context of previous results and case discussions.
