Adam Chasse

Adam has almost 30 years' experience in clinical research, including heading several operational and strategic departments at the world's largest CRO, establishing unique business collaborations with integrated health systems, leading and expanding a 20-site SMO, co-founding a boutique CRO, and providing independent consulting to hospital-based research departments and independent sites. Adam joined GRN in 2016 to build out its clinical operations function and is currently accountable for business growth and project delivery.

Bernard Rhee - Chief Legal Officer

As an experienced attorney in the healthcare, clinical research, and pharmaceutical industries, Bernie is responsible for GRN's legal and regulatory functions. He advises the executive team and Board on research collaborations, complex data licensing, and data use arrangements, and the use of electronic health information to guide our company in its mission to help patients. He understands the entire data lifecycle of protected health information, including the associated regulatory concerns, legal risks, and ethical considerations.

Bruce Holstien - CEO, Chairman

As the leader of Guardian Research Network, Bruce is leveraging the power of healthcare data and aggregating hundreds of thousands of patients' data to save the lives of patients treated in community healthcare settings across the country. He has held many positions in medical services, ambulatory care, health insurance, and hospital administration. In addition to his leadership of Guardian Research Network, he serves as President and CEO of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Prior to that, he led Apella Health and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System, and was an executive with Sentara Health System.

Charles S. Hurmiz

Charlie is an accomplished IT authority with 25 years of experience, including specializing in health informatics, oncology and life sciences. He has served on technology advisory boards for the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious disease, Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, and for leading cancer centers in the U.S. and Australia. Over the years, Charlie has been invited to speak at multiple conferences based on his expertise as a published author and U.S. patent holder. Charlie has worked with multiple organizations, such as Cerner, EPIC, McKesson, and NextGen in the healthcare area. He also led multiple IT efforts at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital working with clinical and translational research systems, data warehousing, genomics research systems, EMRs, clinical decision support, and IRB systems.

Mark L. Watson

As a surgical pathologist and NIH-supported scientist in brain tumor biology, Mark brings a range of experiences as a researcher in biology, clinical development and executive leadership, especially with drugs and biologics requiring biomarkers and companion diagnostics. As a thought leader, Mark has mapped the murine whole genome and positionally cloned the gene that spawned an entire field of immune cell regulation. He also cloned the micro-orchidia gene, a transgene insertion knockout phenotype that defined a new category of DNA and chromosome maintenance genes. Mark also brings GRN Partners and clients his dynamic experience with EMR and IT systems, including pathology databases, laboratory information systems, clinical trial management systems, imaging systems for radiology and others.

Robert Bakin

A former cancer researcher and registered U.S. patent agent with experience in FDA regulatory matters, Rob brings vast HIPAA-related knowledge of electronic data privacy, risk assessment and compliance advice. Rob's knowledge of business contracts, including Data Use Agreements, reduces risk for all, as does his acumen in corporate Intellectual Property and Trade Secret policies related to technology. Rob also has experience in biologic drug development and has insights derived from multiple medical device 510(k) applications approved by the FDA.

Shirley Trainor-Thomas

Shirley is an accomplished professional with multifaceted experience in both healthcare and clinical research, including proven ability to capitalize on untapped opportunities given her previous roles as chief strategy officer, principal strategist and company co-founder. She also served as an executive consultant delivering complex analysis and strategic plans to hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers across the country. At GRN, Shirley supports a national network of health systems working in concert to cure life-threatening diseases. She drives fit-for-purpose community-based clinical trials, precision medicine trials and next-generation analysis involving real world data to GRN's health system networks.
