Zelpha McGoldrick concentrates her practice on counseling insurers on coverage matters and litigating coverage disputes. She focuses on complex coverage issues and contract disputes arising under commercial general liability and excess insurance policies. She handles coverage issues for a variety of underlying claims, including toxic torts and pollution losses, invasion of privacy and bodily injury. Zelpha spends much of her time working on long-tail claims, including litigating coverage disputes stemming from the opioid crisis and assisting with handling sexual abuse claims brought by plaintiffs under the New York Child Victim's Act, which re-opened the statute of limitations window for individuals who experienced abuse as minors. Zelpha is an active member of the firm's SMB Cares Committee, which creates opportunities to serve populations-in-need in the neighborhoods in which we live and work. Zelpha is an accomplished moot court advocate. She was a Regional Champion, winning Best Petitioner Brief and Fourth Best Oralist, in the National Moot Court Competition: Region VIII, and finished as a National Finalist in the 72 nd Annual National Moot Court Competition. Zelpha also coached teams of advocates in the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition and the Touro Law Center's National Moot Court Competition in Law and Religion. She served on the Executive Board of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society and was honored with the Marc A. Grinker Outstanding Student Commitment Award for her dedication to the program.
