Alan Tadd - Managing Director

Alan Tadd trained as a Chartered Accountant with what is now Giess Wallis Crisp in Bishop's Stortford. In October 1985 he became Finance Director of B & R Electrical Products Ltd. In this role he was responsible for financial strategy and the role was broadened to have responsibility for procurement and all legal and patent matters. The Company through its inventions of Portable RCD's grew rapidly as it created the PowerBreaker, KingShield and Safetysure brands which were aimed at both the retail and electrical wholesale markets. The identification of potential acquisitions was part of the strategic function and he was fully involved in the successful acquisition and integration process of two businesses which increased the overall value of the business. At this time the business was going through change and he was at the centre of the change process which meant the closure of the UK manufacturing facility and moving it to the Far East. At this stage he assumed responsibility for the logistical, warehousing and fulfilment functions. In September 1993 Alan became Managing Director of PowerBreaker plc and continued to grow and develop the focus of the business which included working with Non Executive Directors. In December 1996 Alan undertook the MBO of the PowerConnections division into Sandal plc.

Oliver Tadd

Oliver has been with Sandal Plc since 2009 after graduating with an Economics undergraduate degree and subsequent Masters degree in International Business, becoming Commercial Director in 2013. In 2013 Sandal began the development of the MiHome range of products after seeing an opportunity in adding connectivity to mains power products. Oliver successfully launched MiHome with a number of retailers in 2015; leading ones include Screwfix and Amazon. Sales in the products have since grown to nearly £1million annually. Originally Oliver conceptualised the brand to create the digital and physical MiHome brand. Working on packaging, exhibitions, websites and physical and digital advertising, Oliver drove the identity of the brand which has successful added 15,000 users to date. Oliver is the visionary strategy lead on Energenie MiHome for product and marketing devising entry plans for new market channels like Wholesale and Installer. Oliver has built strong relations with the voice teams and commercial teams of both Amazon and Google, presenting at a number of Smart Home conferences to varied audiences from Investors and C-suite executives to Installers. Oliver has a deep understanding of the Smart Home market and is part of the Smart Home Association Future Leaders' group. Oliver also was chosen for two UKTi scholarships; one two-week course at Kelloggs University to study "Exporting to the US" and one year long course in conjunction with UCL and Barclays Bank for Leaders of Scale-up Businesses.
