We have developed our own SAE J1939 protocol stack, and, in the best sense of rapid prototyping, we used the Arduino platform (UNO, Mega 2560, DUE) as a test hardware. Since then, we ported the code to the NXP LPC17xx ARM Cortex processor family, which we use as the base of our own embedded SAE J1939 systems such as an SAE J1939 ECU Simulator, SAE J1939 to Bluetooth gateway, SAE J1939 GPS Module, and more. Our code supports the full SAE J1939 protocol according to J1939/81 Network Management (Address Claiming) and J1939/21 Transport Protocol (TP). It is also supported by an extensive programming interface for Windows and Linux/Ubuntu applications, including full C/C++/C# source code for short time-to-market developments...
