Brendan Haworth

With over 30 years' experience in Civil and Structural Engineering, Brendan has worked on a huge number of projects. These include marina developments, coastal defence works, motorways (roads, bridges, earthworks, and drainage), treatment works (foul and potable water), dam refurbishment, and airport runways. In 2007, Brendan formed his own company, undertaking the design of small industrial and domestic buildings, before merging with Des McCall to form Haworth McCall Consulting. Brendan's main responsibility is overseeing the business and manging production of civil engineering (drainage and highway) designs. Brendan also has a wealth of experience in listed-building and planning applications,and designing buildings to meet the requirements for Building Control applications.

Desmond McCall

Des is a Chartered Structural and Civil Engineer, with over 30 years' experience. He has worked in highly respected consulting structural engineering practices in London and the south-east of England before setting up his own practice in 2008. Des' wide experience ranges from multi-million-pound reinforced concrete and steel framed buildings, to bespoke domestic projects. He has particular expertise in designing structures on confined city-centre sites and refurbishment of older, historic buildings. Des also has extensive experience with international aid agencies providing water, sanitation, and shelter in emergency environments. He retains involvement with the humanitarian sector, having been deployed with the International Federation of the Red Cross/Crescent to the earthquakes in Turkey in February 2023, and to Ukraine in 2022

Grigory Yashkov

Job Titles:
  • Senior Engineer
Grigory graduated in 2007 from Ivanovo State University of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering in Russia. He then gained experience working on projects that included power stations and substations, before becoming a senior engineer and owning a consultancy in Russia. Grigory then moved to the UK and became a graduate member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer. With over 14 years' experience, Grigory has developed particular expertise in using cutting edge software, including Tekla Structural Designer, Revit, Masterseries, and Civils3D to produce efficient structural and civil engineering designs.

Jack Dexter

Jack is a Structural Engineering professional who obtained his BEng in Civil Engineering from the University of Brighton in 2013. His career began at BBP Consulting Engineers after graduation, before joining Haworth McCall in 2016. With over a decade of experience in the field, Jack has contributed his expertise to a diverse range of projects, spanning both commercial and residential sectors. His portfolio includes significant contributions to the construction of schools, social housing, industrial facilities, and the adaptive reuse of heritage structures. Jack is a seasoned engineer, demonstrating proficiency in the design of structural systems using various materials and adhering to both British Standards and Eurocodes. He is adept at utilizing Autodesk Revit to create intricate 3D structural models and efficiently coordinate complex projects that involve multidisciplinary collaboration.

Jonathan Proctor

Jonathan (better known as Jonny) graduated from Ulster University in 2020 and brings over 3 years of civil and structural design experience to our team. With a background of working with Haworth McCall during his degree, Jonny seamlessly combines academic knowledge with practical expertise. His project portfolio ranges from small domestic extensions to large industrial structures which have included the use of all the major construction materials. Beyond his engineering role, Jonny also serves as the company's mental health first aider, underscoring his commitment to the well-being of our team members. Outside of the office, Jonny channels his passion for working with children as an enthusiastic swim teacher at Templemore Swim School since 2012. He is also an active member of his local club hockey club, North Down.

Romy Taylor

Romy graduated from the University of Exeter with an MEng in Civil Engineering in 2023. She is our newest team member, having joined Haworth McCall as a graduate engineer straight from university. Since joining the company, Romy has worked on both civil and structural projects. During her spare time at University, Romy was project leader of a non-profit project that focuses on creating a sustainable food source for children in rural Cambodia.

Shaun McConville

Thomas Carpenter

Job Titles:
  • Placement Student
Thomas has joined Haworth McCall for a year's placement to gain valuable experience before returning for the final year of his MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering course at the University of Brighton. He has been involved in a variety of civil and structural projects, including pre-planning drainage schemes and structural engineering design drawings. Outside of work Thomas is an avid runner who has completed multiple marathons and half marathons, whilst doing so, raising funds for charitable causes close to his heart.

Tom Bedford

Tom is a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. After closing his own practice, he has joined Haworth McCall as a Consultant, bringing with him his long experience of working professionally in Brighton - serving clients nationally and internationally. In recent years he has become involved in a number of landmark schemes where the emphasis has been upon sustainability; this includes the Earthship in Brighton, an off grid building that heats, cools and powers itself from the sun, harvests its water from the sky, and treats its wastewater onsite using plants. He also worked on the University of Brighton's Waste House, which was made entirely from materials that people have thrown away
