The Puget Sound Retriever Club is a group of Retriever Enthusiasts who are dedicated to the conservation of game through the use of trained retrievers. We are united by our commitment to retriever sporting events like Field Trials and Hunt Tests. It is our universal goal to urge and assist Club members to train their retrievers to proficiently retrieve fallen game... In 1950 a group of duck hunters and retriever owners founded Puget Sound Retriever Club. They received access from Sam Theler to utilize his property known as the Belfair Flats. The club used the property to train their retrievers and also to hunt the waterfowl present there. The club built dikes that created several freshwater ponds. In 1952 the club conducted a Licensed American Kennel Club Field Trial semi-annually on the "flats" and at McKnight's Pond. In 1989, PSRC held a Hunting Retriever Field Test Licensed by the North American Hunting Retriever Association. Currently the club leases property near the Dewatto..
