Mr Brian Moore

Mr Moore is the Head of School and Senior School Principal. Brian was appointed in 2016. Brian was educated in Wesley College following which he graduated from UCD with a B.A. and subsequently, a H. Dip. in Education from Trinity College Dublin. He completed his teacher training in Wesley College where he also served as a boarding house master. On graduation from Trinity College Dublin, he spent one year teaching in Belvedere College SJ, before moving to St Mary's College C.S.Sp. where he has spent the last 17 years, primarily as a Maths and Business teacher. Brian also completed a M.Sc. in Education Leadership and Management in TCD during that time. He was Deputy Principal in St. Mary's College for six years. An avid sportsman, Brian represented Leinster and Ireland at schoolboy level in cricket and coached cricket in Wesley College, Belvedere and St Mary's. He also played and coached rugby and takes particular interest in extra-curricular activities. Brian has great ambition for Rathdown School. He is very aware of its traditions and its reputation as one of the most respected schools in the country. He looks forward to maintaining its academic excellence.

Mr Dix is Principal of Rathdown Junior School Dermot was appointed in 2018. Dermot brings a wealth of experience with him to Rathdown School having held the position of Headmaster of Headfort School, Kells, Co. Meath since 2003. Dermot's school years were spent in independent education, first as a student of Headfort, and later in St. Columba's College, Rathfarnham. He holds a Bachelor of History from Trinity College, Dublin and a Masters of History from Pembroke College, Cambridge. Dermot has published a number of academic contributions in the field of history, notably the history of the British Empire in America, India and Ireland. Prior to commencing his work at Headfort, Dermot spent 16 years in New York teaching History. This included several years at The Dalton School in Manhattan, which is routinely ranked among the top private high schools in the United States. Dermot has been dedicated to the field of education for over 30 years - 15 of which as Headmaster. Dermot is married to Chandana Mathur, who lectures in Anthropology at Maynooth University. The couple has one son, Conall.
