Elizabeth Jones

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2016 and went straight into work in a mixed animal practice in Staffordshire - very James Herriot! I loved working with the variety of species, but found my interest was in small animal medicine and surgery, so I moved to CVC, in September 2017. I think my biggest skill is my ability to communicate well with my clients. My free time has been taken over by DIY, as I have just finished building a house for myself which I've done alongside full-time work in the last 4 years. I have Dolly (my border terrier) and Dora (my cat) who live with me. I also spend my days off helping my parents run our family farm in Sutton.

I enjoy working here with a team that really enjoys what they do, this makes it a pleasure to work at Congleton Vets! I love all aspects of nursing, especially nurse clinics and have a keen interest in obesity clinics. Surprisingly for a veterinary nurse, I don't have any animals of my own, I have 2 daughters who are afraid of animals! I therefore treat all the pets as my own when I see them here. I started working at Congleton Veterinary Centre in July 2017. The contrast from the banking industry where I have spent the last 38 years to the veterinary ‘Animal Kingdom' is huge but immensely enjoyable. The team is so welcoming, fun, caring and dedicated in all that they do; and have made my career change a positive one. I have a fabulous ‘Freddie' who is a Springer spaniel who's just turned one. I enjoy walking, keeping Freddie and myself fit, as well as Pilates. Having lived in various parts of the country I love visiting and catching up with friends and family. I always like to be ‘doing', not sitting still.

I have worked at CVC since the spring of 2018 and have never looked back! We really are like one big family; everyone is so passionate about animals and committed to our patients. I have always been obsessed with animals, so it's a dream job spending time with them every day and getting to know you and your little companions. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and I am the proud owner of two Staffies, Brad (who is a right character!) and my lovely girl Angie. In the past, we have had a myriad of house guests including an Iguana, Terrapin, Rats, Guinea Pigs and a Cat, my dream has always been to have a non-working farm full of animals, so watch this space!

I have always loved working with animals and have done so since leaving school, when I worked part-time at a boarding kennels. I then started working at a practice in Kidsgrove, going to college to do my first year in vet nursing, but found that I was happier as a receptionist. I was promoted to Head Receptionist during this job, and ended up staying for 10 years. After leaving, I decided on a career-break from the veterinary profession and worked at a private human hospital, but I missed the interaction with the animals. I started working at CVC in August 2011, as a part-time receptionist. As the practice has grown I have taken on more of the administration roles in the office, and now work full-time as the Practice Administrator, of which I am very proud. (I do still creep out to reception on occasion, though, whenever the lovely Helen or Chloe are away!). I love working at CVC as we have such lovely clients and pets, as well as a lovely team to work with.
