Alexandre received a combined BS/MS in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France. He also completed a Master of Materials Science and Nanoengineering at Rice University in May 2017. He is now a Ph.D. student in the group of Pr. Eric Stach at University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on in situ and operando diagnostics using electron microscopy in order to understand catalyst evolution under working conditions.
Amanda Filie received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park in 2016. During her studies there, she researched the kinetic effects that micropore size, mesoporosity and acidity have on the hydrolysis rate of inulin; these studies helped form guidelines for engineering zeolite catalysts that facilitate the decomposition of biomass.
Currently, she is a PhD student in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Science. As a member of the Friend lab, Amanda investigates catalyst structure and composition en operando, or under "operating conditions." This information elucidates important parameters of catalyst systems as a way to guide the design of highly selective catalysts, thus increasing the efficiency of new catalyst systems and lowering the carbon footprint of the chemical industry.

Dr. Lewandowski obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2019, and his B.S. in La Plata National University (Argentina). During his Ph.D. in the group of Prof. Freund in the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society he studied the atomic structure of metal-supported oxide films by means of STM and LEED. In particular, he synthesized and characterized ultra-thin germanium dioxide films.
Dr. Lewandowski joined IMASC as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Friend lab at Harvard University studying the transient kinetics of bimetallic alloys.
