FHI FOUNDATION

The FHI Foundation was built on a unique business model through a small, early investment by Family Health International (FHI) in a commercial venture. FHI's experience in conducting large, complex clinical trials throughout the world enabled the organization to secure a large-scale U.S. study of lovastatin (Mevacor) with Merck & Co. Because of the size of the large trial (350 clinics enrolling over 8,000 patients), FHI formed a commercial affiliate, Clinical Research International (CRI), for implementation and became the first multinational, full-service clinical research organization. Dividends from CRI propelled FHI's innovative HIV work and established FHI as a leader in the field... The FHI Foundation is well-positioned to partner with foundations and others to fund life-changing work in the United States and around the world...
