Donald W. Hitzeman

Donald W. Hitzeman, president and a founder of Hitzeman & Evenson, APC, has been licensed to practice law in California since 1983. Mr. Hitzeman is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Central and Southern Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (formerly the United States Court of Military Appeals), the United States Army Court of Military Review, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Hitzeman is a graduate of Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington (B.A., cum laude, 1980) and of Whittier College School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1983). He served as the Executive Editor and was a contributing author of the Whittier Law Review. As an experienced litigator, Don Hitzeman provides his clients with sound and well-reasoned advice related to employment law and transactional matters, knowing how contract issues will likely play out in court, mediation or arbitration. This advice helps his clients to navigate day-to-day operational business decisions, including contract development and fulfillment, employee discipline and termination, human resources documentation and policy planning and enforcement. Mr. Hitzeman was previously a co-president and founder of Rosenstein & Hitzeman, AAPLC, overseeing the active business litigation practice and office management of that firm, located in the Penny Dome Building in Old Town Temecula. He was lead counsel for most of the litigation undertaken by Rosenstein & Hitzeman, AAPLC, and successfully represented clients equally when they have had to bring action as a plaintiff or defend them as a defendant. Mr. Hitzeman's experience also includes over eleven years with Parker & Irwin, A Professional Corporation, in San Bernardino, California, where he was a shareholder and member of the Board of Directors. His practice focused on employment law and workers' compensation insurance defense, as well as appellate practice before the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. Prior to that, Mr. Hitzeman served over eight years as an officer and attorney in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, practicing criminal law at the trial and appellate levels. During that period, he tried over fifty jury and bench trials in military courts-martial. He also drafted and filed briefs before the military appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court, as well as arguing cases before the military appellate courts. In his civil appellate practice, Mr. Hitzeman has briefed and argued many cases before the California appellate courts. Several of these cases resulted in published opinions of the California Courts of Appeal, including Mr. Hitzeman has been an instructor and lecturer locally and nationally on such subjects as California Workers' Compensation Law, employment discrimination, leave policies, criminal trial advocacy and methods in child abuse prosecution. He also published articles in The Army Lawyer during his tenure in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. Hitzeman & Evenson, APC, was founded in 2015, although Mr. Hitzeman has been serving and advising Temecula Valley businesses since 2004. Donald W. Hitzeman and Paul N. Evenson, both formerly with Rosenstein & Hitzeman, AAPLC, are the founders of the Law Offices of Hitzeman & Evenson, APC, and formed their Temecula law firm in order to continue to provide high-quality, competent, cost efficient and timely legal services to businesses throughout the Temecula Valley and Southwest Riverside County, California, including the communities of Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, Menifee and Lake Elsinore. Paul N. Evenson

Paul N. Evenson, an officer and a founder of Hitzeman & Evenson, A Professional Corporation, has been licensed to practice law in the State of California since 2008. Mr. Evenson is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of California and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Evenson is a native to Southern California, and attended Chapman University of Orange, California, where he received a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting, with a dual emphasis in finance and business management. He is also a graduate of Chapman University School of Law, where he received a certificate in taxation and dispute resolution. Mr. Evenson completed externships with the Board of Equalization and the Huntington Beach City Attorney's Office. Mr. Evenson's experience includes over four years as an associate Attorney with the Law Offices of Rosenstein & Hitzeman, An Association of Professional Law Corporations. His practice focused on representing clients in a variety of business related matters, including negotiating and drafting contracts, employment disputes, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in business litigation matters, completing business reorganizations both through chapter 11 bankruptcies and outside of the Bankruptcy Court, formation of business entities and various tax matters and disputes. Prior to being an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Rosenstein & Hitzeman, Mr. Evenson spent one and one half years as an Associate with Dummitt, Buchholz & Trapp. His practice focused on medical malpractice defense, mostly defending hospitals, nurses and doctors when they were sued for malpractice. Prior to that, Mr. Evenson spent over two years, first as a law clerk and then as an associate attorney, with the Law Offices of Mark Peacock in Newport Beach, California. His practice focused on representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters. Mr. Evenson and his wife of over 2 years, Alyssa, have a one year old son, Lucca, who was born in the Temecula Valley. As an active member of our growing community, Mr. Evenson's goal is to provide high quality, competent and, most importantly, ethical legal services to those businesses and individuals living in and serving our community. He wishes to help the community in which his family with grow to continue its growth and prosperity.
