IRONWOOD PAPER STUDIOS

Nestled in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts, Ironwood Paper Studio produces works of art using handmade and decorated papers. The handmade paper is produced from both local and commercial fibers. The papers are decorated using various processes: marbling, mono-type, painting, inking, block printing, and colored paste. The papers are then cut and woven to create screens, scrolls and 3-dimensional pieces. The current work incorporates natural found materials: willow, rose canes, vines, and decorticated strips of tree bark. They are used to create a structure in which to weave the paper.
