Brandon Mitchener is a former correspondent of 15 years for The Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune and Dow Jones Newswires in Germany and continues to write about EU policies, science, research and other topics. Since 2004, he has also been actively helping people and organisations communicate better and make better public policy decisions through strategic advice and campaign management. He has advised companies, business associations and non-governmental organisations in a wide variety of sectors including agriculture, food, energy, health and transportation.

Carlos Härtel is chair of the board at Science|Business. He is chief technology officer of Climeworks, and an independent innovation-strategy advisor. He was previously chief technology and innovation officer of GE Europe, and president and CEO of the company's German subsidiary. He was also, from 2013 to 2017, president of the European Industrial Research Managers Association.

David Matthews is international editor at Science|Business. He covers global research and development topics such as artificial intelligence, biosecurity and the geopolitics of science. Previously he was Europe correspondent for Times Higher Education, and has written for publications including Nature, the Guardian and the Register. David holds a degree in modern history from the University of Oxford, a master's degree in journalism from City, University of London, and studied Chinese at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He lives in Berlin.
An experienced business journalist, David Pringle is a London-based analyst, writer and editor working with organisations in the telecoms, media and technology sectors. A regular moderator of panel discussions at major industry conferences, David also serves as an editor and presenter on Mobile World Live television at the Mobile World Congress. Between 2000 and 2005, David was the European technology and telecommunications correspondent for The Wall Street Journal covering Vodafone, Nokia, Ericsson, British Telecom and other major multinationals. He has also served as deputy editor of Information Strategy, a pan-European title owned by The Economist Group.
Denitsa joined ScienceBusiness in July 2022. Previously, she interned at the Centre for European Security Studies (CESS) in Groningen, as well as Hydrogen Europe in Brussels. Denitsa holds a Master's degree in International Security from the University of Groningen and did a Summer School at CERN.

Edit is Director General of the strategic foresight consultancy company Vision & Values situated in Brussels. She is Chair of the Administrative Board of the European Union's Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER). She is Senior EU Liaison Adviser to GÉANT and Senior Advisor at the Science Business Widening Initiative. She is Board member of Research Data Alliance Europe and former Member of the Global Council (2017-2023). She is co-chair of the RDA FAIR Data Maturity Model Working Group. She serves on the Board of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN).
Prior to establishing her company, she served two consecutive terms in the European Parliament as a Member (MEP) (2004-2014). She served and worked on files in Committees regarding the budget, budgetary discharge, internal market, industry, research, energy and space policy. She also served on the governance of several parliamentary forums (European Energy Forum, European Internet Foundation, Knowledge 4 Innovation, Kangaroo Group etc.). Prior, she was member of the Hungarian Parliament in which role she was delegate to the Council of Europe. Before her political engagement, she worked in the private sector as regional (CEE) sales and technical manager for the specialty chemicals company, National Starch & Chemical (part of Unilever and later ICI).
She has an MSc in food conservation engineering. She was Research Fellow at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Teaching Assistant at the University of Horticulture. Edit holds a Certificate of Company Direction for strategic marketing, financial management and company law from the Institute of Directors.
Eleonora joined Science|Business in March 2024. After her Master's at Columbia Journalism School, she covered New York's government for POLITICO and worked as an analyst for the watchdog company NewsGuard, addressing fake news and disinformation. She also ran two social and political investigations as a Fellow of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the Dart Center on Journalism & Trauma. After completing a traineeship at the European Parliament in 2024, she started at Science|Business as a News Assistant. Eleonora holds an undergraduate degree in international affairs and philosophy from John Cabot University in Rome.

Florin is Executive Editor, leading Science|Business news coverage on research and innovation policy in Europe. He is covering EU R&D policy, the Horizon Europe programme, Europe's innovation divide and R&D policy reforms in central and eastern Europe. He managed the Science|Business newsletters since 2014 and, in 2017, he helped implement a complete redesign of www.sciencebusiness.net. Previously, Florin worked as a political science researcher and web producer for various organisations and think-tanks in Romania and Hungary. He holds degrees in political science from Central European University in Budapest and Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.

Ian Mundell writes The Ecosystem, a weekly column from Science|Business on the people, policies and places innovating in Europe. He is a freelance journalist, based in Brussels, specialising in science, innovation and higher education. In the past he has written for Politico Europe, European Voice, New Scientist and Nature. For several years he was editor of Research Fortnight and Research Europe.

Martin Greenacre joined Science|Business in September 2023. He previously worked as a journalist for the English-language media in France, at The Local and then The Connexion. He holds a history degree from the University of Edinburgh, and a master's degree in journalism from the Centre universitaire d'enseignement du journalisme in Strasbourg.
Maryline Fiaschi joined Science|Business in 2011 where she has risen to the position of CEO and leads the company's operations and growth strategy. Previously, she managed EU education programmes with the European Commission for six years, before entering the media business in 2007. She held business development positions at Shanghai Daily and EU affairs media company EurActiv. She is also an external evaluator for several EU higher education and research and innovation programmes. Maryline holds degrees from Université La Sorbonne, Università di Bologna and Université de Louvain.

Nuala manages website editorial content and writes news and features for Science|Business. One of Europe's most experienced science and technology journalists, Nuala was formerly managing editor of Nature, innovation editor of the The Independent on Sunday and deputy editor of Computer Weekly. For the past 14 years she has covered the European biotechnology sector for the US publication BioWorld, and is a contributor to Nature Biotechnology. She has also been a regular contributor to the Financial Times. In 1995 she won the UK Technology Journalist of the year award and in 2006 was named as a Science Journalism Laureate by Purdue University.

Peter co-founded Science|Business in 2004 with Richard Hudson and was its first editorial director. He now works on a variety of editorial projects within the company. From 1996 to 2004, Peter was managing editor of Nature, the world's leading scientific journal. He has 35 years' experience in writing and editing science journalism, including four years as head of publications at the UK Medical Research Council and eight years as chief sub-editor at New Scientist. He is a past chairman of the Association of British Science Writers.
Raffaele joined Science|Business in February 2023. He has an academic background in International and European Studies from the University of Trento. Moving to Brussels in 2019 for an internship in the field of education, Raffaele has then spent 3 years at the European Energy Research Alliance as a Policy and Communications Officer.

Rich has been a leading science and technology journalist for 40 years. In 2004 he co-founded London- and Brussels-based Science Business Publishing Ltd., a media and communications company focused on research and innovation in Europe. He is currently editorial director and vice chair of the Board of Directors. Previously, he was with the Wall Street Journal for 25 years in the US and Europe, as reporter, technology editor and, from 1997 to 2003, managing editor of the European edition. He began his career at the Boston Globe.
He is co-author of a book, now a best-seller in 13 languages, on how bad math on Wall Street leads to big losses: "The (mis)Behavior of Markets: A fractal view of risk, ruin & reward." He wrote it with famed Yale/IBM mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot. It won the Business Book of the Year award at the 2004 Frankfurt Book Fair, and according to Die Zeit, was read and "mentioned again and again in conversation" by Angela Merkel after the 2008 crash.
He has been a member or rapporteur of numerous European Commission expert groups, currently including the Foresight Expert Group of the EU's agricultural research steering committee. He was from 2018 to 2021 an honorary professor at University College London's Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy. He is a graduate of Harvard College and a former Knight Fellow at MIT.

Sebastian Dohmen joined Science|Business in 2022 as Director of Marketing & Communications to drive all marketing efforts, coordinate communications services and help achieve the company's strategic growth objectives.
Before his engagement, Sebastian built extensive experience in international corporate marketing and communications at DDB Chicago, a top global advertising agency, and Siemens, as well as in digitizing marketing and managing customer life cycles in high-value sales environments at Inspired Education Group. In between, he has also had a stint in the golf industry as General Manager of the Millennium Business Club. In all his roles, he has put the brand and its reputation at the foundation of his approach to business.
Sebastian has obtained a Master in Political Science from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in Germany, and an MBA in International Marketing & Finance at DePaul University - Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, in the US.
Simon leads on network engagement and development for Science|Business in line with the company's growth strategy. He previously held directorial positions with The Academy of Business in Society (ABIS) network and IDAS Global, a technology solutions provider to the global cash industry. Within these roles, he designed and coordinated a wide range of international projects focused on sustainability-driven innovation, both in research and education. Simon holds a Masters Degree from the University of Oxford and an MBA from HEC Paris School of Management.

Tessa Laws is a corporate and business lawyer. Having qualified at Rosenblatt Solicitors, she became a partner there and the head of the corporate department at Rosenblatt for three years, where she developed a renewables practice and started the Japan desk.
In 2010, she left to set up her own practice, newlawslegal, which merged with Acuity Law in 2018 where she is now a partner in the London office.
She has a strong track record in advising solar developers in the UK and the teams behind creative businesses. Apart from the Science|Business board, she has also served on a couple of AIM listed company boards and was a member of the Quoted Companies Alliance for many years.
Thomas Brent joined the team full-time in October 2022. He has worked as a journalist in countries around the world, including three years in Cambodia reporting on social and political issues in Southeast Asia and two years in France writing for the English-language newspaper The Connexion. He has an undergraduate degree in journalism from Edinburgh Napier University and a postgraduate diploma in central and eastern European studies from the University of Glasgow.
